Nope!! As much as I like to see it, Boone is nowhere near #1 in NKY. By the end of the season, I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath.

Highlands will be #1 all year IMO. Boone, Ryle and Dixie are arguably even since they split games and all return key ingredients. They will all be close to CovCath and we will find out early since Ryle scrimmages CovCath and Boone and Dixie play the Blue Colonels. If this year's pattern holds, CovCath will beat Boone and Dixie early and then the Rebels and Red Colonels will improve greatly during the season. I do see NC ahead of Beechwood again next year but not sure if they will rise above the Rebels, Raiders and Red Colonels. Ryle battles NC and I heard Dixie plays Beechwood so those games will go a long way in determining if the 1A schools get ranked above the 4A schools in '06. Campbell and SK should be in the top 10 and Holmes and Conner will battle for a spot to climb into the top 10. Most 4A games will be wars next year with a lot of good teams strapping it on.

If we're strictly speaking 4A NKY I'd rank em like this for the pre-season.

Should be a very interesting season for NKY, and should answer alot of those "who is really number one" questions people like to pose. It seems all the top teams will be linked across the board for alot of speculation on the subject :lol:

4A will indeed be an interesting mix this year. But the #1 spot will be wire to wire Highlands. They may lose to St. X early on but that should not be enough to knock them from #1.

In 4A Campbell will not be left out of the playoffs, alot of talent returning. Just need a few leaders to step up this off season and i know that wont be a problem.

In (Pre) pre-season 4A I would put it like this:

 

1. Boone

2. Dixie

3. Ryle

4. A tie between SK, CC, and Conner.

5. Holmes

6. Scott

 

In NKY as a whole:

 

1. Highlands

2. Cov Cath

3. Boone

4. NCC

5. Dixie

6. Beechwood

7. Ryle

8-10. SK, CC, and Conner

I do not look for Duran to return to football at Holmes for his senior year. I think he will concentrate on basketball.

Who will qb for the Cougars?

I have no idea who is QB'ing for the Cougars in 06. And, I have no inside info on Holmes, just my gut feeling about Duran not playing FB at Holmes next fall.

I see another fun year for NKY 4A. Looks to be even more competitive than 05 was and 05 was pretty competitive compared to past years.

 

Got to figure Dixie, Boone, Ryle will be right there. But you have to watch out for Simon Kenton, Conner too. Campbell Co, Scott, and Holmes will IMO be able to knock off anyone on any given Friday. Might be good to start seeing who has who at home. Win at home and .500 on the road might be enough to take the district.
