Final Softball Poll

Featured Replies

Hey sarge, you say Walton Verona deserves to be #2 in the poll, well you had a heck of a time with Simon Kenton which isnt even ranked. Any one of the top five can be beat on any given day, even WV JMO

According to BGH it looks like Simon Kenton is ranked sixth.

SK is ranked #6. A win is a win.

There's not one team in NO KY that cant be beat by any of the top 10 teams ! Period

That's exactly what I have been saying. If you look at who has beat who and who has played who tough, you can't make sense out of anything. Look at what happened to Notre Dame. No disrespect to Beechwood, but who would have thought that Beechwood would even give them a close game and even ended up beating them. Nobody is safe in the regionals, it will be alot of fun.

On a side note, I used to know a Jim McAlister way back in the day; he was originally from Eminence. Surely the guy providing the rankings can't be the same guy?

Could be. Small world.

Thanks for the link RP. I had no idea that WKY was a softball hotbed!

The middle of the pack WKY teams (Warren East, Apollo, etc.) would win regional championships in EKY every year. It's just a different game down there.

I wonder why that is. :idunno:

Good question. Most schools down there have indoor facilities and do something year around.

That helps for sure !!!!

Not totally against what you are saying but the facts point to at least number 2 in the poll. They have played the toughest schedule of the whole group. They beat the number#2 convincingly and played a stronger schedule than the #3 team. Upward and onward to the 8th Region! Good luck to all the teams. By the way no disrespect to SK but Walton was forced to jumble their lineup due to injury and still won so I would say that is good.:thumb:

It doesnt matter if they had to change the lineup or not. A win in the district finals is always good whether its by 1 or 20 runs. Good luck to WV & Sk in the regional they'll both be a hard out . IMO Walton is still the #2 team !!!!

Not sure how much the jumbled line-up hurt, back-up 2b made a couple plays I'm not sure the starter would have made.

But errors were made by players playing positions other than their usual leading to runs. Also had to bat players that usual don't bat on Varsity.

Sarge the errors made were by players in the same position as the last sk game. Not really sure of your point.

Several errors made by players not playing the positions they normally play. Don't know how else to explain it to you.

I think maybe the several errors is what I am missing. The LF from the last time SK/WV played moved to second and made a couple really nice plays, the new LF could have been sitting in the stands with us and it wouldn't have made any difference. WV made 2 errors that I remember and both were committed by players playing in the same position as the last time they played. Just the way I saw it, how did you see it differently?
