May 23, 201214 yr I think so. That was clearly premeditated. Born Ready could have easily been seriously injured. As could have Harden, but Ron's was at least in the heat of the moment. Didn't they hold Ron's past against him which is why he got 7? I'd say Pittman gets at least 5 and I won't be shocked if it is more. The wink will probably hurt him also. I think it was worse than Artest.

May 23, 201214 yr It's easy to see how the league will suspend Pittman. I would not support a suspension of Haslem. How. Both were premeditated. Both were excessive. Both were done to send a message. Both were called flagrant 1 fouls and neither player was kicked out of the game. Pittman claims he was going to block out. Haslem said he was going for the ball but he was. Pearly looking dead at Tyler to foul when the ball was behind his head.

Your point was that you can't go from F1 to suspension. I'd say it will for Pittman and a slight chance of it going to suspension for Haslem. I'll be shocked if Pittman is allowed to play. While I support him sending a message to Stephenson the league will not support how he did it. In addition, you have public perception (see Goodell, Roger). The NBA is not comfortable with the tone of this series. They will not be happy to hear the announcers saying it is getting out of control. They will not be comfortable with the message Larry Bird sent by calling his team "soft." They are going to deliver a message and the first person to suffer will be Pittman IMO.

I just disagree that one is different from the other and if the league is going to upgrade one or both of the flagrant fouls or even suspend someone then they need to be consistent and give the same penalty to both. Both were done with retaliation intent. Haslem fouled Hansbrough just minutes after Hansbrough received a flagrant 1 on DWade. Both of those fouls were delivered with the same intent. If they suspend one of them then they need to suspend both.
