I did it once. I'm not proud, but I did it. She worked with us, and still came in five minutes before close and ordered a bunch of stuff after we'd already shut things down. She knew better. That doesn't excuse my behavior, but I bet every last one of you would've done the same thing at that time.

 

That was 20 years ago, and I know better. But I still recall how mad I was at the time. And I liked the girl and considered her a friend at the time. She caught me on the worst possible day. Her friends enjoyed the chicken wings.

You're right, I never have. If you don't want people coming in late, then put up a sign that says:

 

 

No orders taken after 9:30

Closed at 10

In fact, I usually got to take home some sandwiches and nuggets. Once the final runs were made, we were supposed to begin clean up procedures. I perfected the art of closing up, so i usually had it all done before closing time anyways. No one should come in 5 minutes before closing and expect 500 nuggets.

I worked in fast food or pizza places in some capacity from the time I was 16 until I was 25 and began working at Corning. I have never seen anyone tamper with food ever. I've seen or heard about people stealing money or food but never have I seen anyone messing with food like that. Worst I have seen involving food is serving old sandwiches that were past their 10 minute shelf life. That's it. I was an assistant manager at Papa John's and had an employee struggling to get the bag of ham open so he used his teeth. :lol: I scolded him hard in front of the restaurant and then threw the whole bag away. I had never seen anything like that in my life. He didn't know what he did wrong. :lol: He said to me, "haven't you ever opened a bag of chips like that?". I said, "yeah, at home. That's a bag of ham for everyone in Harrodsburg to eat from not you. Use the knife next time." I think I may have said some other things to him also. :lol:

 

It's funny how people who worked in fast food are sympathetic to those who work in the fast food industry. I wouldn't go to any restaurant 30 minutes before closing either. I'd find a 24 hour place. Your service will be be bad and the food won't be any good either. As others have said, the last food prep is done and you won't get any good food if you come 30 minutes to close. When my order is messed up I am always super polite to the employees when getting it fixed. I have been yelled at soooo many times for honest mistakes that I know that one bad customer can ruin your day and one great customer can make your day. I love being the great customer. Sometimes it'll get you a free value meal or dessert or something. I also advise tipping your pizza delivery drivers well. Delivery drivers know the addresses of the best tippers and your pizza will find its way to your house in record time if they know they are getting a good tip when they get there.

Absolutely. My first job was a waiter at Pizza Hut and I delivered pizzas for Papa Johns. I always leave a good tip regardless of the service. I know how it is.

As I said before, if you don't want people ordering that late, then make it your policy, and put up signs that say "No orders will be taken after 9:30 pm. It's that simple.

I don't work for tips, but if I have good service I always tip at least 25%.

Because the owner of the restaurant doesn't want any labor dollars wasted.
