How about Combs?

They are not looking to hire in-house, due to hiring of two in-house coaches the previous two times. They want new blood at Nelson.

The Admin could have told the assistants they didnt want to hire in house to start with, I hate when schools string along young coaches they are not going to hire, that is one of the worst things that happen in the coaching profession.

In this situation, Old1, they asked the assistants to apply knowing they weren't going to offer it to them. Politics is the reason for it.

I believe he has been an asst at Colrain in Ohio, HC at Lou. Southern (3-4yrs), and most recently an asst at St.X (2-3yrs).

No clue about his O or D schemes?

Coach Bruner ran a 50 Angle Defense and a Multiple "I" Offense (did include some very limited 1 back stuff) at Southern. It will be interesting to see if Coach Bruner would incorporate any of the the offense used at St. Xavier (Split Back Veer). It obviously does well for them and Bullitt East gives their oppenents fits with a very similar scheme . . .

This hiring process began on the 11th?? Having trouble seeing what is taking so long. One would thank that they could wrap it up in 20 days. This opening is going on 2 1/2 months now. I would think they would be chomping at the bit to get someone named and beginning his off-season program.

You think they would be, but they are not. The kids are suffering from the political issues that is haunting Nelson Co.

No end in sight. May be June! The admin will not hire a coach until they have a teaching position. The kids lose again at Nelson Co. What a joke! It is embarassing!

What in the sam h**l is going on? Is Bruner off of the radar now? I can't see how he would be interested anymore if they were going to wait until the last second. Is this woman just nuts? Is anybody going to do anything about it? Do the parents not care?

She'll reap what she's sown.

Like I said the kids are the losers. 2 coaches are trying to hold the ship together but they are having VERY low indoor attendance(20-25).

I personally heard an admin at the HS say "you don't understand the scope of the politics" that have influenced the entire ordeal.

Job qualifications: Quality teacher, Great politician, okay coach.

What type of politics could possibly justify a 4A program with rich history sitting on itself into oblivion? Is this woman trying to salvage her job and is answering to a local with an agenda in exchange?

Bingo!!! Nail, hit squarely on head.

Anyone with enough juevos to name the local????!!!

The thought has occurred to me that a Super is hired/fired/serves at the pleasure of, the Board of Education. Its election season. Local board folks must file by, when, June? I recall that the football issue was one, albeit glaring, of many major, major issues facing Nelson Co. Schools due to the Super. Couldn't a dedicated media campaign combined with some local activism on the part of parents toss the School Board members and get some fresh blood in there? Anyone have any other thoughts/suggestions?

It appears that the holdup IS teaching positions or lack thereof. The good and bad with a head coaching search at this time of the year is getting someone and allowing them to get to work ASAP with offseason, spring ball, hiring new asst's, etc. However, school systems haven't yet done "intent sheets" or student scheduling for next school year. This is way that schools begin to see which teaching jobs might open due to retirement, advancement, transfers, increases in enrollment, etc. Nelson does not have a provision like some school districts that can "bump" teachers to make a spot for a new head coach.
