June 4, 201214 yr I enjoyed the finale as well. They are doing a good job IMHO of bringing the differences from the books and the series to the same points. I like you wasn't thrilled with the zombie army thing either.
June 4, 201214 yr I loved when the third horn sounded. They could have just ended it right there and it would've been great I think. That was a great ending to the season. Do you all think I should read the books now? Does it ruin much of the suspense? I really don't want to wait 9 months to see what happens next.

Better than waiting 5 years, reading the books is good but I will likely be in my 70's by the time the books are finally finished.

If you want those, "did that really just happen?" moment, wait til season 3 is over. Season 3 should be the king and deciding factor of how good the show will turn out to be as a whole. I originally read they were going to split season 3 into 2 parts kinda with like the walking dead. I was thrilled when I first seen that, since then they cancelled the idea. Season 3 is gonna be a 10 episode long season and I dont see in any way how they are going to get it all in there. I'm not going to spoil anything (you readers will know) but a scene in season 3, that is just going to blow everything out of the water. Actually there is a couple, but you guys know what I'm talking about :lol:

June 10, 201214 yr Finished the season last night. Even though they diverged from the books more I am still very pleased with the job HBO has done. I can't wait for the next season. Several of the best scenes so far are in it. Oh yea, if the Reeds don't make an appearance soon heads will roll...

I think that should have been done with ACOK and this season. They covered the second book and part of the third in 10 episodes. Too much, IMO. As a reader, I have no trouble following the show, but I think it would be more difficult for someone else to catch all the nuances and such. That is, if they even have time to include it. I love it and think they've done a nice job thus far, but I think the show will benefit tremendously from the less material/more time combination. I think it will give it room to breathe a little, develop some characters, widen the story without things seeming rushed or crammed in. I got that feeling a few times during Season 2. I wouldn't be surprised if Books 4 and 5 end up being 3 or 4 seasons on TV. FWIW, I loved AFFC and ADWD, just like the first three. It is an amazingly detailed world he has created.
