March 27, 201214 yr My first question is what 2 voters did not include Anthony Davis on the first team? Bobby night have a vote . LOL
March 27, 201214 yr In doing these ballots I’ve tried to vote for a team and not just five forwards or guards. I still ended up having only one guard on a first team of Marcus Denmon, Missouri; Draymond Green, Michigan State; Tyler Zeller, North Carolina; Thomas Robinson, Kansas and Kevin Jones, West Virginia. If I have a second thought about my ballot it’s not putting a second guard on the first team. Green and Robinson are the best two players in the country. Zeller was the player of year in what is year in and year out the best conference in the country, the ACC. So it came down between Jones and Davis for the final spot on the first team. If there was a bias in the vote it wasn’t anti-Kentucky or anti-Calipari but a belief that the Big East is a much tougher conference then the SEC. It’s just not even close. I also liked Jones’ play against top opponents: *Louisville, 22 points, 11 rebounds *Syracuse, 20 points, eight rebounds *Kansas State, 30 points, 12 rebounds *Georgetown, 22 points, 16 rebounds *Cincinnati, 26 points, 13 rebounds *Notre Dame, 14 points, 12 rebounds My Christian Laettner moment - UCLA : The Orange County Register Then there’s the monster game he had against Baylor: 28 points, 17 boards while Perry Jones III finished with four points. A couple of other factors: Davis had only seven points against North Carolina, only six against Indiana and he didn’t have a field goal in the final 18:03 of a SEC title game loss to Vanderbilt. So there you have it. Best of luck Kentucky this weekend at the Final Four. I’ll be at home re-watching “Glory Road” in my retro Laettner jersey.

However, as Cal pointed out yesterday this team puts stats second. Davis attempts about 8 or 9 shots PER GAME. His stats aren't going to be over the top. He's not the only hope like Jones is for WVU (I like Jones a lot). Davis is penalized because he plays on a well-rounded team. The writer could base his votes simply off of stats without ever watching a game. That's not how the game works. Writer also loses credibility for his justification of Zeller because the ACC is the best conference year in and year out. In the end, no big deal. Davis is 1st Team as a frosh. Impressive year.
March 27, 201214 yr LOL at all of his arguments. The best is the first one, "Green and Robinson are the two best players in the country." He uses that like it is some sort of commonly known, undisputed statement. Reality is that POY is a two horse race between Davis and Robinson. If Davis isn't first team, the guy doesn't deserve a vote. No big deal. Time to move on.

I thought it was funny he felt compelled to write an article defending it and did a horrible job proving his point.
March 27, 201214 yr I agree with Clyde that at least he had a thought process behind. Although he's as wrong as black socks with sandals.

That combined with his ACC comment (which has a worse conference RPI than the SEC this year) proves he shouldn't have a vote more than his original omission.
March 27, 201214 yr He is entitled to his own opionion when he votes. The only problem is that his opinion is wrong.
