I'm sorry but I don't see where that's a big deal. One usually has a pretty good idea when your gonna use your closer. So he warms up a little sooner.

Homer is not going to the bullpen. He simply can't get ready quick enough. Why not move Arroyo to the bullpen? He could probably pitch an inning or two everyday.

Moving Chapman back to the pen would be beyond stupid, but it's the most likely course of action.

Thoughts on this?

Neither. I think the Reds have to start Homer Bailey, and Chapman heads to the minors to keep stretched out for when a rotation spot opens up. They have enough relief without Madson and Chapman.

Arroyo to the bullpen. If he only pitches an inning or two he might hit 91mph every now and then. I still don't see the big deal about warm up time. :idunno:

How about the games where you're on the road and down 1 going into the 9th, get a big 2 out hit, and all of a sudden you're up a run? Still gonna have enough time to get him up? You're WAY over simplifying how a closer is used IMO.

He has NO resume' as a starter that says he can sustain a 200 inning season. He's a starter because he started for whom? In the WBC?

Because in the event he's on the DL with issues just after the allstar break, well, then I guess we had a world class closer at the front of the rotation after all. And who, currently on the roster, is "capable of closing"?

If he has pitches great today like he has all spring I don't see anyway you can keep him out of the rotation.
