After all the crap her mom has said on him? He should still be required to be sympathetic to their plight when they haven't shown him the same courtesy? You yourself said she had a valid point until she started taking shots at him. Her whole point was to make him look bad but as our leader he is required to still be sympathetic to her? It wouldn't make a difference if he went to Maher, ripped up the check and made Maher fly to Alaska with him to personally apologize to Bristol she would still talk crap on him at first opportunity and so would her mom. No. It's called Priorities USA. Super PACs are not legally allowed to coordinate with parties or candidates. There's a debate as to whether a candidate can communicate informally through the media -- perhaps the president could hint that it might be appropriate to return the money. But this may also be improper and result in a violation of current election law for both the candidate and the PAC.

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher on Thursday night announced he's donating $1 million to Priorities USA Action, the super PAC supporting President Obama.

...and then the next comedian that makes a joke should be responded to by the President? And then the next?

Since he's already set the standard with an entertainer in Rush, I guess he should.

Bill Maher did apologize. I watched it live on his show and it was a sincere apology.
