I'm a little surprised you're permitted to be friends w/ students. A lot of school systems forbid teachers from being friends with students.

Out of curiosity, do any parents choose not to sign those contracts? If so, what percentage (by your best estimation)?

We just implemented the policy in the middle of the year, so we didn't get a high return rate for the contracts (less than 50%). However, by and large, all of the ones that came across my desk signed for at least their child's current teachers/coaches access. Most had no problem with any school personnel having access.

DF, maybe you're children will hate FB like I did. If i liked my ex girlfriends bestfriends status about how her and my ex were best friends I would get dumped. I finally just deactivated mine a few years ago. Love twitter though because of the news.

I agree that is a huge problem with FB, if you like something "wrong," make a comment that is taken the wrong way, etc. people just delete your comment and/or defriend you.

I didn't let my son have a Facebook until 14 almost 15. I have his password and watch it on a regular basis. However, I can understand why a parent wouldn't want their child to have a FB.

Same here by one of my sisters. :lol::lol::lol: I think it set her over the edge when we asked if she needed to fill out a "hurt feelings" report at a family function. :lol::lol::lol:

It actually has been nice not seeing her silly, dramatic and self centered post on FB. I de-friended another sister and a nephew not because I was mad but because they post some really silly crap on FB and it is embarrassing to be associated with them.

That is true. I've tried, but she wants to have nothing to do with me....and this all stems from the fact that I was enamored of the wedding of Wills and Kate....Oh well, she misses some pretty awesome stuff.
