I agree. However, I don't necessarily agree that what he did/said was idiotic. Over the top, yes.

 

I dunno...throwing out "I’m a combat veteran Navy Seal, how’s that?" after he was being led out of the town hall certainly didn't help him not look like an idiot. Reminds me of a kid I grew up with who used to quip back with, "oh yeah, well my dad makes more money than yours". Granted, Christie had already called him an idiot, but still, call a spade a spade.

...sure seems pretty foolish and stupid to me to show up at a news-reported town hall with a state Governer, start shouting at the Governer from the audience, and then act indignant when you're escorted out.

True. However, in the end I felt that both were acting like a couple of freshmen boys.

Christie wears his emotions on his sleeve, which partially explains his popularity in some circles. I've always likened his style to that of Charles Barkley's sports commentating. To a lot of people, it's very appealing & to others it's a major turn-off.

 

I really like Christie, but I'm inclined to agree more with TB&G on this one--that he got a little testy in the heat of the moment. The "idiot" comment is an opinion, but the man to whom the label was given is not exempt solely because of his military background. Didn't we have some soldiers recently who urinated (or something like that?) on some of the enemies they had captured? That's certainly idiotic behavior. As RM said, he doesn't get a free pass just because of his military service.

But the guy acted a fool and was extremely disrespectful. Now, Christie could have been respectful to the guy, but honestly, he didn't deserve for him to.

Trust me, I'm no GOP robot. You're talking to a registered independent here. I would have absolutely ZERO problem with a Democrat saying exactly those words. When Obama was interrupted and called a liar, EVERYBODY thought it was out of place and extremely disrespectful. I'm willing enough to respect a speaker - especially an elected one - by not trying to shout over their voice when they speak.

 

Frankly, I get into arguments fairly regularly with people, and I regularly tell people to quit interrupting me...and I'm just a plain old general contractor. Nobody elected me...but I certainly tell people to pipe down (or shut up depending on how heated the conversation is) when they start trying to yell over my voice as I'm speaking. Christie is a human just like anyone else, and he was getting frustrated just like any normal person does when they have someone confronting them over something and stepping over them as they try to speak. Christie is just frank enough to tell the guy how he feels instead of staying quiet. I'd dare say that you have done and said similar things in your professional career. Like Randy Parker said...he wears his emotions on his sleeve.

I'm about as big a critic of Republicans as they come. If they guy was disruptive and out of line, I have no problem with Christie responding as such.
