I had not heard that about Boyd who are the names?

With the season being up and running for a full two days I am sure everyone has found out where their teams strengths and weaknesses, and if you do not I am sure you are dying to know.

Most of the boys were not there because of their college games.

The loss of Bias and Davis is really going to hurt their lineup.

Why is that, Are you saying that this years Greenup's team will not be as good as they are said to be, or are you stating that Greenup just is not going to be as good as last year.

No he does not throw in the 90's, but he is effective. I have watched him pitch a lot and have never seen him get hit extremely hard, and I have seen those guys who throw in the 90's get hit hard. It also does not matter at all how many strike outs there are in a game, the way I look at it is it takes at least three pitches to get a strike out but only one to get an out. At this age pitch count is critical.

Well I do not think that Raceland can shut them down in districts because I doubt that they can hit Hieneman, I am not familiar with Racelands staff this year. I do know that they did not have a true ace last year and they graduated their two best, so I really doubt that they have anyone this year.

I apologize for my comments if they seem harsh, I am just so passionate about the game of baseball and being a part of a Greenup's baseball program is just embedded in me, I know that anyone can get beat on any given day, because baseball is an absolutely crazy game, believe me I know its anyones ball game.

Lets not forget about the first 90% of the football season as well, actually we have not done much in any sport outside of baseball and golf in about three years.

I am not disagreeing with you, I am simply asking the question of who is returning for the Lions on the mound this year. I know the position players like Crisp, Barker, etc. will be strong but pitching wins ball games.

I agree with you completely, however, who are teams in the 63rd (Russell, Lewis, Raceland) going to throw that could beat Greenup. Im not saying that these teams do not have the chance to beat them, However, for Greenup not to get out of the district means a team is going to have to beat Hieneman (who i dont think had a loss in the 16th region at all last year, I may be wrong but I do not recall one), and also have a pitcher that will shut down the Musketeers, if any of these teams have a chance of doing that it would be Raceland.

ABSOLUTELY NOT..... I think Greg Logan is an unreal coach, I have followed him from the time he started the Yankees and I have a close relationship with him. What statement meant was that Boyd was simply more talented, Boyd was not just simply better, (I think Greenup proved that). This was simply about last year not this upcoming year, just making that clear.

Well life is not hard on a 16 year old, however they look at it that way, and honestly I highly doubt that any players are going to read my post and then when they lose a game think, "Man, we really let GCGUARD down, I don't think I can live with my self anymore", I mean come on we are just , as Springsteen#1 put it, a bunch of old people, and in my opinion, we are a bunch of old people who would kill to be those 15-16 year olds.

I know Boyd is a good team, they always are, however, they lost a lot to Graduation, sorry but i highly doubt that they will be able to beat Greenup as EASILY as they have in the past. Granted Boyd was a better team then Greenup last year but baseball is a crazy game so anything can happen.

Where is everyone getting the information that Juan Staten will be a second baseball? I attended a large portion of Greenup's games and never saw him play a position in the infield not to say he could not do it hes a very athletic young player but Zach Reed would be my guess as the starter, and Juan will be in the outfield.

I think that Greenup should repeat, they are a strong club. However, they are young, but so is about every other team in the region! Ashland lost two or maybe even three all area players. I know Bias, a Rio Grande signee, and Davis were all area. I think that Barber may have been also. Raceland has a legit shot as well. They have Martin returning, who is an absolute stud that can beat you with his glove, speed, bat and simple presence. Raceland probably wont have any depth on the mound that will hold up to a very talented Morehead signee in Greenup's Hieneman, 07's regional tournament MVP. The best sophomore pitcher in the region, in my opinion is Greenup's Greenslate, who was also a part of the 07 regional tournament team. East Carter is always a sleeper who does not get the respect they deserve. Boyd Co. is ,of course, always a team that no one wants to mess with. This year they graduated such a strong class with the regional player of the year in Bowling ,an Asbury signee, Blanton who was one of the top two catchers in the region (Logan of Greenup being the other), Perkins another all-area player and a King College signee, Branham a Morehead signee, Moore an all-state selection (the only one in the 16th region last year) and a Marshall signee. Lewis Co. is returning a few young kids, Bolander I believe will be the ace of the staff there. They may stir up the 64th district but probably won't be able to go too deep into the regional tournament again this year. Fairview ,I believe has everyone returning and also may cause some noise with Clark and Thompson leading that team again. Rowan County has their ace coming back, Martin, who is a very good young lefty with good movement and a lot of heart. With all that said, It is my opinion that Greenup has too much coming back, despite losing four key Seniors, three of which are playing college baseball, Wright at Rio Grande (he and Ashland's Bias are actually roommates), Rowe at Asbury( rooming with Ashland's Barber), Bentley at Transylvania, and Hensley is rumored to be having shoulder surgery and then trying to become a College baseball player at Shawnee. The Musketeers are returning strong with Hieneman, Craft, Logan (an all-area selection), Staten, Greenslate, Martin, and Stringfellow all were a major part of last years regional champions. Forgive me if I am leaving anyone out. I just think they are going to be too strong and too consistent not to repeat this year. > >

I don't know who voted, but I can't believe that Greenup was 63rd district champs, 16th region champs, and Semi-state 7 champs, and only got 2 players on the all area team. They won 29 games this year and I know of at least 2 more that was well qualified to be on that team. Greenup in my opinion should have at least had 3 on that team. All the boys on the area team are good players and well deserving , but when the team that excels like Greenup did this year, you would think they would have gotten more respect. Congrats to all the players on a great 2007 season.

With the first round games set for Wednesday and Thursday, which game (as a strict fan, with no bias toward any team) would you want to watch. Ryle vs. Shelby County PRP vs. Greenup County Paul Dunbar vs. Johnson Central Heath vs. Apollo My game to watch would be Paul Dunbar vs. Johnson Central with Central having their stud on the mound in Fyffe,I just wonder if that would lead Dunbar to throw their ace back or hold him off for the Semis or the Championship.
