Boone Co. 9 Beechwood 8 (9th Reg. 1st Round)
bjknku02 replied to statmanhensley's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
You are absolutely correct with your statement above. That is what makes me question the move more. Why not start Elliott, who is obviously Beechwood's premier pitcher. It is not like they are a one pitcher team, they have some solid pitchers behind Elliott for later in the tournament. Just a question, but do you think that Beechwood underestimated Boone County? -

Armchair or not, Beechwood is now sitting at home watching. If there was something wrong with Elliott, then more props to the coach for not throwing him. If it was to save him for later in the tournament, then the plan backfired. -

Is there a reason (other than they wanted to save him) that Beechwood did not start Elliott? If not, let the criticizing of Meyerhoff start right here. -
Agreed There is more to coaching than just knowing baseball.

When you say the CCH infield was bad, exactly how many errors are we talking about? I ask because I believe that could well be the one major area of concern for CCH if they are to run the table in regionals. I would have to say that the infield had at least four errors, prolly a couple more. The first three batters of the 7th inning hit the ball to the SS and they all reached base. I know for a fact that one of the plays was an error (errant throw to 2nd), but the other two plays should have been made. There were several other errors made by the CCH infielders as well. If will be intersting to see how the infield handles the games this weekend in the LIT. When playing good teams more times than not they are going to take advantage of the extra outs. From what I have seen this CCH team is not nearly as sound defensively as in years past.

2008 Kentucky Allstar Roster

Congratulations to Corey Sorrell, Covington Holy Cross, for making the team. I am sure that he surprised some people by making the team, but the kid is a good ball player. -
I watched a couple of his games this year and was very impressed with him. Northern Kentucky University is getting a good ball player.

How did Corey Sorrell (Holy Cross Covington) play dring the tryout?
-
Who pitched for HC?
-
They are back. They are on 96.5 Mon-Fri starting at 6 in the morning.

I know a lot of people that are pro Meyerhoff and a lot of people that are anti Meyerhoff. He definitely says and does some things that rub people the wrong way. He knows baseball, but the way that he does certain things can rub you the wrong way.

That is just a great piece and really puts things into perspective. It just shows how things can be great one minute and then taken away the next. -
Agreed, they will have a hard time getting out of their district with Elliott for Beechwood and Roenker (spelling) for HC. Good pitching will shut down good hitting. I am not so sure that CCH has a pitcher that will be able to match these two guys in a one game playoff, unless they can get the #1 seed and sit back and watch these two battle it out.

There is no padding anything, that ball never touched the third baseman's glove. I had a direct angle at the play and it never touched the third baseman's glove. I was at the game and really had no rooting interest either way, so I could care less what his stats are. The ball was smoked!

Cov Cath hit the ball hard all game, just seemed to be right at somebody most of the game. Holocher started the rally in the 5th (I believe) with a double down the line. Maile was able to drive him in with a sharp single to left. Cov Cath was able to push two more across in the inning and their pitching was able to hold the Raiders down. The much criticized middle infield for CCH looked good, besides one ball in the last inning that took a bad bounce. Holocher made a very nice play with bases loaded to keep the score 0-0 early in the game.
-
That is not true, he had a single to left that scored Holocher with the first run.

Cov. Holmes vs. Cov. Cath
bjknku02 replied to Baseballguy's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I am rooting for the Colonels, but feel that Holmes is going to be too tough for them to handle. Bondick is going to be key tonight, he needs to step it up if the Colonels are going to pull of the upset. -

This game is not on ICN-6 correct? If that is correct can someone post the link to the internet feeds of the game? Thanks in advance! -
With the semi's of the girls tournament being moved to Sunday and the finals on Monday, does that move the boy's semi's from Monday to Tuesday?
