Nice showing by Scott recently with 2-1 and 3-2 losses to CCH. Would say Coach Trame is making an immediate impact there.

Would think CCH will be making a push for the Top Ten in the next poll - and well-deserved. Will get a chance to make a nice statement this weekend with games against ranked teams Ballard and Bryan Station and a respectable Daviess County team.

Don't disagree with your point at all, though in Trinity's defense they have played a brutal schedule (not sure of quality of teams they played from TN). If someone in the state has played a tougher schedule to date, I'd love to see it.

Whoever he is, the guy is hideously ugly. (and, yes, I know who he is and he knows it's a joke)

It was not Downs on the hill tonight, it was Brian Ernst and I understand he pitched a whale of a game (complete game). Ryle's pitching staff has some nice depth, with Downs, Lawson, Comora, and Ernst leading the way in starting pitching department. CCH isn't the only team out there deep in quality pitching! :thumb:

Championship still scheduled at Simon Kenton, as far as you know? I'm guessing maybe 4:30/5:00 start time since you all don't start your game until 1:00 and the winner then has to travel to Simon Kenton? Surprised they just don't schedule your game at SK and save some time.

Does anyone know if there is a way to break out just the stats of the NKY players? Can't say I like having them all mixed in with the Cincinnati players. Nice option, mind you, but not if it's the only option.

No question whatsoever that CCH is the cream of the crop in NKY. Just checked their schedule and seems as though they haven't played as many quality "down state" teams as I'm used to seeing. Next weekend could be a good indicator to see how the 9th region might fare at state, as CCH has games scheduled against two state-ranked teams (#5 Bryan Station and #22 Ballard).

Guessing that made Coach Roesel even less happy! Frankly, Ryle has had a bit of an issue with guys getting picked off base this season. Remember this weather well and it was weather I was more than happy to sit in when my son was playing. With my son not on the field, I find myself much more preferring 75 degree sunny days to watch baseball. Pathetic, I know. Total props to you, as I know you would be willing to sit in a snowstorm to watch your Colonels. :notworthy:

Wasn't able to make the game (well, guess I could have, but weather seemed a bit "non-baseball" to me), but wow - CCH pitchers walk seven Ryle hitters, hit one batter, CCH has four fielding errors and Ryle only manages two runs? Guessing Coach Roesel was a tad disappointed in that. CCH certainly seems to have Ryle's number this year. Then again, they've had just about everyone's number all year long!

TOG, if you know, can you provide an update of the district game standings (wins and losses) for CCH, HC, and Beechwood?

I certainly look forward to seeing young Mr. Barickman throw next year. As Clyde said, if he truly throws with that velocity, he would be a very, very unique high school pitcher for this area - or any area for a high school pitcher, for that matter. Hope his injuries heal up well.

Would still be an awfully big jump to be throwing almost 90 mph this year. 90 mph high school pitchers are a rarity in general and practically unheard of in this area.

Very solid start to the season so far for the Colonels. Would hope to see them ranked in the state poll soon. (Or are they already?)

Barickman has 7-8 mph MORE on his fastball than Teegarden?! I would put Teegarden in the 80-82 mph range, so are you saying Barickman is pushing 90 mph on his fastball? Won't disagree with you since I haven't a clue who this Barickman player is, but do find it somewhat hard to believe. Frankly, I thought the kid who relieved Teegarden was pretty darn good. When I first saw him warmup, I thought Ryle would tatter him after having seen Teegarden's fastball for 4 innings. But this kid really mixed up his pitches very well and has excellent control and Ryle did nothing to him whatsoever.

For a high school pitcher (especially in this area), I would say he throws hard. Not blistering hard, by any means, but he's touching 80. I thought he and Teegarden threw about the same velocity, perhaps a small edge to Teegarden. The thing about Downs, however, is the unbelieveable movement he gets on his fastball. Stand behind the plate and watch his fastball tail - it's pretty impressive.

I believe three runs scored in this manner. Two of them were wild pitches without question IMO. The third was debatable and possibly a passed ball. Teegarden threw a fair number of pitches in the dirt in this game. Blaming the umpire for this loss is baseless and whiny. Teegarden's good - dang good. Fun pitcher to watch because he usually has excellent control, can get all his pitches over the plate (including a pretty lively fastball), and also handles himself very well on the mound. But when he has an off night, let's just man up and call it that and not blame "biased" umpires and teammates.

Downs is a very, very good pitcher. Throws hard, terrific curveball, great control, and nice presence on the mound. Without question, has to be one of the top (if not the top) pitchers in NKY.

Ridiculous. The plate was called the same for both pitchers. Claim all you want that it was a tight plate (I didn't think it was), but it was no tighter for Teegarden than it was for Downs. Downs outpitched Teegarden, pure and simple. Give the Ryle pitcher credit and quit making excuses. Teegarden is a heckuva player and heckuva pitcher, but he didn't have his best stuff in this one (did the umpire also cause the wild pitches that allowed a couple runs to score?) and Downs did.

Should be super pitching duel between Teegarden and Downs. Downs is the real deal (not that Teegarden isn't ) and I think he shuts down Boone's offense and Raiders go home winners in close, low-scoring game.

I'm going to take a guess that it was not the district seed game. Boone-Conner are scheduled to play one another again in a few weeks and this is, generally speaking, a tad early to be playing a seed game. Again, just a guess on my part.
