The Coaches down state forget we have teams up here unless they receive a lot of press or go down there and beat teams...(then they rank NKY to justify their own losses.)

Example: Trinity ranked #20 with a record of 7 - 11 (actually 7 - 13)...... Ryle beat them 6-2 earlier in the year. Others on the list could be argued.

Happens in other sports also.....

Don't disagree with your point at all, though in Trinity's defense they have played a brutal schedule (not sure of quality of teams they played from TN). If someone in the state has played a tougher schedule to date, I'd love to see it.

Would think CCH will be making a push for the Top Ten in the next poll - and well-deserved. Will get a chance to make a nice statement this weekend with games against ranked teams Ballard and Bryan Station and a respectable Daviess County team.

I agree that Trinity with a 7-13 record should not be in the top 25 but they have played 9 top 25 teams and 7 of those loses came from top 25 teams.

Don't blame the coaches from"down state" for NKY not having ranked teams, blame the NKY coaches for not playing harder schedules.

Ryle is one of the few teams that play top 25 teams. (they have 4 loses and only 2 wins)

And even the top rated team in NKY, Cov Cath with a 21-1 record, has not played a top 25 team. Thats why they are not rated higher.

Cov Holy Cross just beat #9 Danville 7-1 and I think it was with their #2 pitcher.

Exactly the reason I wish more NKY teams would consistently schedule "down state" opponents. As REW2 pointed out, NKY teams just don't generally schedule many teams outside this area, which is a shame. First off, you want to play the best competition you can - it's how you get better and how you gauge your own abilities/talents. Secondly, it gives you a chance to see different teams and the teams that the coaches feel are the best in the state. Lastly, it gives these other coaches/teams a chance to see more of NKY and have a better appreciation for the talent that is up here. We have some darn good teams up here on a regular basis - we need to broaden our horizons a bit and get out and play these other teams. You may not end up with quite as pretty a record at the end of the regular season, but you'll be far better prepared to compete in post-season play and maybe make an impact in the state tourney.

Holy Cross defeated then-ranked #8 in the state (now #25) Harrison County on their home field back in late March as well as Danville (#14 this week) on their home field a few days ago during the All A sectionals. Sometimes it's a little harder for the smaller schools to get big games against the "traditional" top teams in the state on their schedule because there aren't that many open dates that match up when it comes down to scheduling.

HC will travel back out on road for a game against Bourbon Co tomorrow morning, who had a few votes this week in the Top 25 this week. Should be a fun last month of the season.

So a question......I know what my answer would be........

Should a team move up the rankings more by going to a tourny and winning multiple games over a weekend, against opponents that are ranked, but not as high, say top 15......OR, should they move up more by winning one game against a top 5?

My two cents......IMO, Teams should be ranked on how they would do in the final tournament, multiple games over short time periods matching the state torunament. So depth would come into it....not just in a one game shoot out..........
