That is not correct. Any wooden bat is acceptable. Actually, encouraged.

Decent wood bats will set you back around $100. And they are even less forgiving than the new bbcors. I saw 3 bats break tonight, two of which splintered at Scott tonight.

I saw that too. Wooden bats seem to have as much of a price disparity as the bbcors. Seems quality wise too. You can find everything from a $29 to a $130........but you better buy 3 if you are using it in a game.

 

I think it is more about the form of the hands coming through the hitting zone. Players start with the weak spot pointed away from the pitcher but if they don't bring their hands through correctly, it spins the bat and it is whittlin' time.

 

FYI...Mizuno makes a bamboo bat that actually comes wth a year warranty beacause they are so hard to break............One of those broke in the tournament at Lloyd earlier this year.

Championship still scheduled at Simon Kenton, as far as you know? I'm guessing maybe 4:30/5:00 start time since you all don't start your game until 1:00 and the winner then has to travel to Simon Kenton? Surprised they just don't schedule your game at SK and save some time.
