  1. Woody Crum followed Jones and he also had some great teams.
  2. Skeets Smith ??????? How about Bobby (Toothpick) Jones, Allen Smith or Bobby Hiles.
  3. I'd take Conley over Mayo any day and I've seen both in high school. Attitude, and self discipline and being a team player plays an inportant part in my decision.
  4. I agree, The team with Conley, Sargent, Smith was the best high school team ever in the 16th. I'm not really sure of the year but I think it was 1960. Bob Wright was their coach.
  5. I agree he was a very good KIAC player but Georgetown was the king of the conference at that time with the of the best shooting guards in the country with Dick Vories and Cecil Tuttle plus a couple of big boys. Cumberland and Georgetown always had boys that were in division one schools and didn't like it or couldn't cut it and transfered to those schools. Most KIAC had some of those but those two had more than the rest. Slusher is just one example.
  6. I played against Bob Slusher when he played at Cumberland College. I never though he was quite good enough to play NBA. U.K recruited him but never kept him very long. I think he could have been a lot better than he actually was.
  7. A lot of boys can shoot the threes but thats all they can do. There are players and there are shooters and when a kid can do both ,he's tough. I've seen good three point shooters that couldn't play a lick. The three point shot has taken away from the game in that kids don't learn how to move with the ball,or without the ball .They don't learn how to create and make things happen. A lot of young kids get the concept that the three looks good, scores you more points(without working or thinking) and they forget to learn how to play the game.
  8. Tollesboro High is (OR WAS) in Western Lewis and has always been in the 10 th region since the 40's and Lewis Co was in the 16th and was in the 10th for a couple of years and went back to the 16th. Chris was the first I ever heard about a verbal commitment. Never did quite understand what it meant and how binding it is.
  9. Great kid and a very hard worker. I'm happy for Dakota and wish him the best. Also happy for Pam and Clay, great people.:dancingpa
  10. The only ones I knew were Hundley of Scott Co, the Faulkner twins and Ferguson of Elliott Co, Euton and Jackson from Rose Hill and Stenzel from Clark Co.I think there were about 70 boys total .
  11. Corky Withrow is another interesting story. Coach Bob Davis would be also.
  12. Wayland High School in the days of Kelly Coleman.
  13. I heard the 14u were playing at Kings Island this weekend. Don't know about the older teams.
  14. Which D1 schools. I watched all the regional games and don't remember him playing that much.
  15. Sure don't remember a 6'8" boy although I do remember a 6'5 or maybe a 6'6 left handed boy.
  16. Don't remember him!!!!! Was he a starter?
  17. Not Yet. Let Montgomery Co have it next year and see if they can handle it. They're sure going to have to make different arrangements on their ticket sales, although I don't think as many people will attend because of its location. It's not centered in the region. I've been going to the 10th region tournaments since they being played at Harrison Co in the 50's and I've noticed that Mason Co that a lot of the people who attend are people from Bracken, Robertson and Ohio who usually have no one in the tournament and you will not have those people at Montgomery Co. (MY 2 CENTS)
  18. Great guy. I knew him as a small kid who lived up the road from me in Lewis Co. It was always good to see and talk to him.
  19. Christopher Harrison goes to school in Louisville and played for a tean at KBA from Louisville. He is in the 7th grade and plays with older boys. He is a good ball handler , good shooter , excellent passer and makes good decisions. He played against a distant cousin , Robbie Stenzel , who played for another team from Louisville. I watched Christopher play 2 games this week end.
