The Brain, I just wanted to clarify things for you to maybe cool your head a little. Anything that you do at school that is extra you do not have to post. It is called "extra service pay". If there had been a teaching position to be hired then they would have had to post it for 30 days. They then could have got an emergency hiring since it was in the middle of the year and a lot of times the state will even waive that 30 days on a teaching position also. So the answer to your question is "NO" they did not break any rules and "NO" they didn't have to post it for 30 days. So this should clear up any problems you might of had with the job. Let's let Coach Perry and Cawood High School go on about their buisness.

I don't understand your meaning there DragonPappy. Explain what you mean by "going deep into that staff and not come up with a Mr. Saylor, one way or the other."

I am still trying to figure out how Tim will be the head coach and the superintendent, now that would take some talent. They will hire a coach I am sure after this football season and Saylor has at least 2 more years on his contract as super. There is no way Frank Smith will be the new coach. If he can't coach Cawood then how in the world is going to coach Harlan County.

Great win for the Bobcats. I was afraid that there would be a let down after the Classic but not this time.

It would be awful hard for Coach Saylor to be the superintendent and the head football coach. I don't think that will happen.

I am in no way trying to stir things up. I am sorry that you think that way. i am a huge supporter of Coach Hilton and in no way do I want him to leave. After the Rock game Coach Hilton called the players and parents together and pretty much told them that he didn't like the way things were going around here and that he was in controll and was the coach and stated that things were going to change around here. He also stated that if you don't like the way things were being run then you can go to the house. I don't know if this is a carry over from the problems that he has had with the higher ups in the central office and the practice field ordeal or not but I know he was very upset after the game. It could have been just a heat of the moment thing after a hard play-off loss. I was only wondering if any of the fellow Bell fans that were closer to the program than I am had heard anything as of late. If things had smoothed out.

This is based on the speech that he addressed to his players AND their parents and whoever else wanted to hear after the Rock game. I haven't heard anything else about it and was just wondering if things have gotten better and settled down. I really don't want to get into what Coach Hilton said that Friday night because I don't feel it is my place to do that. i was just wondering from people from the Bobcat Nation that are closer than me to the program if things have settled down.

WOW! This one took me totally by suprise. My sources out of Harlan County were off on this one, thought it was going to be someone else. This is absolutely a great hire for Cawood. Couldn't of hired a better man for the job. Coach Perry will do an outstanding job as a head coach.

I agree, my question might be confusing to the outsider but those of us fans of Bell County that where at the final game should know what I am talking about.

Will the talk that Hilton had with his players and parents after the Rock game this past season help smooth things out or will the same ole six and sevens happen and Hilton pack up and leave somewhere he is appreciated?

Amen!!!!!! I agree 100%. I know it is only my opinion and everybody has one but what WYMT does for the mountains is unbelievable. They sacrifice their time and effort so that we can enjoy Sports OT and the awards shows that they bring us "FOR THE KIDS". I really can't believe some of the things that I am reading on here. I am going to shut up before I say something that will get me in trouble. WMT, keep up the good work!

Interesting Tall Trees, you have me stumped on that one. The rumor mill in my neck of the woods say that the next coach at Cawood will be an assistant from another school.

If what I am hearing is correct, I think this will be a GREAT move for Cawood for its last year and for the new Harlan County High School whether he is an assistant or the head coach. I don't want to say his name because I don't think it is official but the word from where I live is that he will be named soon.

My thinking exactly Coach T. I really don't think that Tim Saylor will settle on hiring a coach that has a .500 record. Unlike Mountain Pride 10, I have confidence that Saylor will not settle on an average coach, that he will go after a "name" coach no matter if he want to bring 5 coaches with him. Absolutely no disrespect Mountain Pride 10, I figured that if you say that you "want the new school to be a shinning success on and off the playing fields" it just suprised me that you would be a pessimistic on getting a name coach and kids "BOLTING" to Harlan High and Bell, so I guess I took that wrong, my apolagies. Guess I just misunderstood you.

Breathitt will be fine in '07 especially with their new district. Coach Holcomb will have his troops ready to go. Good luck Bobcats!!!!

I don't see Jewell leaving Corbin unless he is forced out. I also don't see Hilton leaving Bell with the young talent he has coming up. I don't have a clue who will be coaching the Black Bears in '08 but I would say that the money will be there to hire a big name coach. They are paying 3 head coaches right now and when they are able to pool the money together for one coach I would say that it will be a nice chunk of change.

The word out of Harlan County is that Frank Smith has or is going to resign his post as head football coach. HDE, maybe you could shed some light on this.

I look for Bell to make a run for a state title in the next few years. They are loaded with talent especially young talent. Hilton will have his troops ready to rock and roll in their new 4A class.

Mountain Pride 10, I respect your opinion BUT it is negative comments like this about the new school and comments that may or may not be true that are making people in Harlan County doubt that this thing can come together. Example, about the budget, when the school is opened the budget will be in better shape because they are closing 3 old schools to open one new school. Also about the kids bolting to the city or to Bell because of playing time. Well the only thing I can say to that is what about your larger schools in Lexington and Louisville that have 70 and 80 kids, I am not saying that Harlan County High School football will be compared to Louisville schools but when kids keep hearing things like this then they are going to start thinking well maybe I need to leave. The new school will be able to field a complete Freshman team with their own practices and games and the they will be able to field a complete JV team with their own games. So that the younger kids are being able to compete against kids thier own age unless they are just head and shoulders above their age group then could probably be moved up. Therefore more kids than you think will be able to compete and play. I am not from Harlan so I really don't have a dog in the fight but I think that this will be a great thing for all Harlan Countians especially the kids and that is the most important thing.
