My year in, year out gun is an H&R 7mm-08 single shot. Tack driver. However, the past two days my hunting spot will give only 200-250 yard shots. For that I use a Remington 700, 7mm Mag. which I'm very comfortable with out to 300yds. Don't have enough scope for more than that.

Although I rarely take a deer, I enjoy my time in the woods watching the rut take place. My sons harvest about enough for all of us. This year has been the exception. Since the opening bell of gun season, I have 5 full days in my blind, 6am-6pm and two, 6 to noon days. Before today I'd seen 3 deer, two does, and a small spike. Moved today, and saw 7, including one small horned piebald buck, the rest does. Getting to watch that piebald chase does for about an hour was a treat, even more so that my oldest son, (29yrs old) was in the blind with me. Here's his 2017 bow kill....

IMO, as long as there are does around, he'll be around. Rattling him in again might be a little harder to do though.
