With both NCC and HHS on the schedule soon for NDA, we will find out a lot in the next week to ten days.

What is the run/pass ratio for the Pioneers this season?

NDA has been up and down this year. Lost to Lex Cath, then beat them in the rematch. Just lost 3-0 to Sacred Heart.

NCC is undefeated and has allowed only 6 goals against all season. Are they the top team in NKY this year?

This game, if the Birds can pull out a win, could be the turning point in the season. Here's hoping!

Yeah, you are right, I could have phrased that better. I was just pointing out that the posters that are blaming coach W for the losses are off base. There are some excellent players on the team and all the kids play their tails off. I know that. My apologies for not saying this in the first post.

This is NOT a coaching problem. It is a temporary down cycle in the level of talent. Just not enough players to cover the field on either side of the ball. Give it one more year after this one. The Birds will be back.

Donuts only $7. It is a fund raising donation for the kid's prom. Keeps them safe after prom with activities etc...worth every penny. Now the game ticket to watch that mess, not so much.

On the bright side, I did buy a box of Krispy Kreme donuts on the way out.

They appear to be headed for a nice season. There are some excellent athletes in this class and from what I hear, the 8th grade class is loaded as well, which bodes well for next year. I am really looking forward to seeing Huddleston next season with another year of the HHS weight program under his belt!

Yes, a big, strong 8th grader. Very good player, a lot of fun to watch.

Highlands scored first on their opening possession. 4th and 19 Kremer hit Huddleston on an out to the left sideline. Huddleston made a fantastic, takeaway catch then ran the ball to the two yard line. Highlands punched it in from there for a 7-0 lead. SK came right back and scored and converted the 2 point conversion to take a 8-7 lead after 1 quarter. The Pioneers then socred early in the 2nd quarter, the 2 point try failed and they had a 14-7 lead. They kept that lead until there were 12 seconds to play in the first half. Kremer hit a receiver (sorry I don't know who) after a scramble to avoid the rush, in the end zone for the TD. The game went into the half, tied at 14. The second half was controlled by the birds as it appeared the Pioneers began to tire. 2 more TD's and a field goal led to the 30-14 final score. 24 unanswered points after falling behind early, says a lot about this team. They also played the game without one of their top players, Schwalbach, who was out with an ankle injury.

This is simply a down cycle, talent wise, for the Birds. There are only a handful of really good football players and you cannot hide 3-5 marginal players on either side of the ball. We just have to hope some players develop as the season goes on.

Where is the HHS/NCC game being played? If at Pendry, lighting may be a factor for a 6pm start if there are any delays.

In the few games so far this year, I have seen several opportunities for Highlands to either score or pick up a short first down if only they had a fullback to bull through and pick up a yard or two. I know there is a defensive player that played running back as a frosh, who is very capable of filling this role. If he is allowed to play both sides, short yardage situations become an entirely new ballgame for the Birds.

The young Jags looked good. The Birds were very strong on the D side. Lots of false start flags on both teams kept both offenses from getting into a rhythm. Both teams will end up with very good records this season.

Just glad to see the HHS coach allow her players to play the game this year. Great job Pandas!

The football program deserves an announcer with legitimate PA experience and there are good candidates, who have given much time and energy to the school teams, who have expressed interest in the position and deserve a shot at it before making it another student experiment. There is no reason this broadcasting program can't gain valuable experience and give back to the community by working the FTJFL, Freshman and JV games. I'll have to throw my support behind Mr. Nieporte as well. He does a great job with the Thursday and Saturday games.

Too many long time volunteers in the program that I'm sure would like the opportunity, to just hand a job like this over to inexperienced kids and have the games sound like they are being announced by inexperienced kids. Let them cut their teeth by announcing, running the clock, spotting etc...for the FTJFL games. Then, if they prove competent and dedicated, move them up to the Freshman games. They still get the experience, but just don't get handed the top job right off the bat.

Having the kids from the Broadcast Department do this will be a disaster. HHS is a top notch program and the PA announcer position needs to be filled with a knowledgeable and competent adult. I recall Scott and some other schools using kids and it is like amateur hour. The JV announcer does a great job, why not give him a shot?

Word has it that the longtime HHS PA announcer is hanging up his microphone. It will be different not hearing that familiar voice on Friday nights. Any word on who is taking over the job?
