I think a wet field always plays in the favor of the underdog. Weather is the great equalizer in a football game. Case in point last week in the Bethlehem vs Green game. The mud was ankle deep and it limited much of both teams offense. Since Bethlehems offense was better then they lost more. I believe on a dry field they beat Green handily. If the field is wet expect Kailen Williams and Rashaun Phillips to play a big role. Wet fields favor straight ahead runners. IMO Bethlehem should as Father Bill Hammer to pray for rain.

I was at the field today. They are bringing bleachers in from everywhere. By my count they should be able to sit between 1500-1750 people. They have put several sets on the visitor side of the field and will be encouraging Bardstown fans to sit behind their bench and support their team. They will additionally be bringing in some port-a-cans for the visitor sideline. There is alot of standing room behind the end zone fence on the practice field side of the field. Parking will be the biggest issue but the boosters are well prepared. Advanced tickets are being sold at both high schools.

Top 5 players in your Region

I usually think you are on top of it Hearsay but I was not impressed with Bacon. I understand alot of his yardage has came against 2nd and 3rd string units as Knox was getting blown out. He was not impressive against Bethlehem. They had 3 kids on defense that were faster than him and much bigger. I know he is young but he looked like a JV player when compared to Jackson and Stanley. -
Nelson is having a tough time trying to run the option. They are two years away from a winning season. Brunner is the real deal and will get them back to the winning ways they are used to. The talent is there and the 9th and 8th grade classes are loaded with speed and size.

I think it diminishes a teams success during the regular season. Do not like this system. Yes I know basketball and baseball do it this way but they play 3 times as many games.

I agree that you have to beat the best to be the best. Bethlehem is not on the level of those schools at this point. They may knock some of them off this year but the challenge is to do it year in and year out. It is remarkable however how successful they have been in just 3 years of conference play. They are moving in the right direction and it will be interesting to see who they bring on as head coach next year. I have heard several rumors but nothing substantial.

That is crazy EasyPro. You obviously do not know the fans in Bardstown. Many of this group of Eagles played against these Bardstown players in the 6th grade Pumpkin Bowl and there were close to 1000 fans for that. Bethlehem will not need to beat Bardstown to make a name for itself. The fact that a school with 135 boys will play St. X in the sweet 16 tonight in soccer, won the A championship, had the best district record in baseball, and is currently 9-0 in football speaks volumes about the kind of athletics in the school.

Very safe to predict Bardstown. They are clearly the favorite and should win the game based on school size and football tradition. Bethlehem comes in however with no pressure as no one expects them to win. The difference maker will be Kaelin Williams. Kaelin is a transfer from Nelson Co where he had ongoing discipline problems etc. Since transferring over he has became a model student and division 1 prospect. He is overshadowed by Jackson but is the better athlete. He is 6'1" weighs 220 and is faster than Jackson or Stanley either one. He started his first game at fullback against Green Co. and was a man. He will allow Bethlehem to play more of a ground contol game than usual. Additionally Bethlehem's special teams are excellent. They will not be fooled by Bardstown's trickery nor outran by their speed. Bethlehem's short coming will be there ability to throw the ball; however they have thrown it when needed. (ask Marion Co., and Holy Cross) Bethlehem 24 Bardstown 21

Should be interference with fair catch and team B should take possession 15 yards ahead of the spot of the infraction. Exception would be if team A player was pushed or blocked into team B receiver by another player from team B

History of your schools State Champion Teams

They had alot of talent. What most people forget is they were better the next year but their QB went down against Cental Hardin with a broken fibula. He played against X while wearing a cast and took NC in at half with the lead. Early in the 3rd qtr he was hit by Bernard Jackson from X and was not able to return. It was a great game. X ended up winning it and the state that year. -
Great post and right on point. I have 4 children. My wife and I choose to send them to a parochial school 1-8 grade. Two are now in high school. I gave them both a choice as to which high school they could attend. One went to a private and the other a public. Ironically enough they both would have went to the opposite school had they made their decision in the 6th grade. Now I have a 4th grader who will have to decide as a 6th grader what route he wants to take. I do not know why KHSAA thinks this will reduce recruiting as it will only push it down to the 6th grade.

That is all presuming that Bardstown can beat Bethlehem. Let's say that is the case. Is there a scenario that puts Bethlehem playing KCD in a 2-3 matchup.
-
This game will be over the top. Bethlehem's home field is at St. Monica's Parrish. (Lally Field) This will by far be the biggest crowd they have ever seen. Back in the Day when Nelson Co. was a power house the Bardstown/NC matchup would draw 6,000 in attendance. Not bad for a city of 10,000. I do not expect that level of attendence but do expect close to 3,000 which will fill Lally field to the gills. There has been some suggestion about moving the game but I do not see any possibility of this happening. The momentum that Bethlehem has created and the atmosphere of there home games is allowing them to start pulling more athletes towards football. This is big when you only have 267 kids in the school and the State A championship soccer team. Win or loss this will be the biggest game in Bethlehems 10 year football history.

History of your schools State Champion Teams

Man I do not remember all of that but I do remember that the last time a non-Jefferson Co. school won the 4A State Championship was a Mark Brown led Nelson Co. team that came through Trinity on the way to the finals. -

Dalton has done great and developed early. Does he concentrate on one sport or does he play multiple sports? -
College hopefuls from your team this year?

Bethlehem High School has a running back named Billy Jackson that should land somewhere. He was the state champion in the 200m hurdles and has rushed for over 1500 years for the past 3 years. He is 6'0'' 210 with a 24 on his ACT. It would be a crime if this kid is overlooked.
