  1. This should be one of many interesting matchups in the third round of the playoffs this year. A four hour trip to face Tony Franklin's O. The Tiger D better be ready.
  2. I get the feeling that some on this thread would prefer a western Kentucky champion, a southwestern Kentucky champion, a Louisville champion, a northern Kentucky champion, a Lexington champion, a mountain champion and a northeastern Kentucky champion in each class. I thought we were playing for state championships. It looks like this year we have significant travel for a number of games, but I bet most of these teams are happy to be practicing on Thanksgiving and playing on the weekend. Good luck to all teams.
  3. Who you play in the first two rounds changed last season. It really doesn't have anything to do with 6 classes. Here is an idea: Take three from each district to the playoffs. #1 gets a first round bye (seems to work out OK in the NFL). #2 plays #3 cross district in the first round. #1 are seperated from their district # 2 in the overall bracket. All teams that do not make the playoffs are free to schedule a post-season bowl against another non-playoff team if they want. The only thing eliminated is the 4 over 1 upset.
  4. I think Shelby probably believes that four teams in the playoffs is a pretty good idea. Great win for the Rockets.
  5. Manual 42-6; Defense is that good and offense is better every week. PRP is the one that might have to struggle with focus after their brutal schedule and off-week.
  6. Final: St. X 2, Trinity 0 after a scoreless first half. Kevin Bick from Kyle Schickel on the first goal. Evan Karst unassisted on the second.
  7. All game expenses including the field rental charge are paid from gate receipts (assuming they cover the costs). KHSAA keeps the rest since this is sectional tournament. Tickets are $7 BTW per KHSAA guidelines.
  8. Just a question: When sophomores play in a Frosh game is it not then designated as a JV for both teams? I have always heard that the KHSAA requires freshman games to include only freshmen when counting against the limitation of seasons.
  9. Who are the "blue chip" targeted kids? I caught a fish last week that weighed 8lbs. down at Cumberland. I didn't get it in the boat but I caught it. Really. No I really did.
  10. Yes. The population of Fayette County Metro would be the determining factor. Enrollment criteria for individual schools are determined by the local board of ed.
  11. What about 2 divisions, one for communities/countie/metro with populations over 100,000 and one for all others utilizing divisions for the school populations? State champs in both. Winners play.
  12. Bellarmine University Football........ BRILLIANT!!!!
  13. Less than two years ago a Greater Clark County school official made a published charge in the Voice-Tribune stating that a Clark County middle school student was on the St. Xavier sideline at the state championship game in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. This published report was proven to be a complete fabrication. Is this another fabrication from the same mind? FYI: The athlete mentioned in the story attended Catholic elementary and middle school and played in the Louisville Catholic School Athletic Association before enrolling at St. X.
  14. http://www.louisvillehsfootball.com/ Pretty cool!
  15. This rivalry is about kids playing their hearts out. It is not about a coach holding an umbrella to express a sentiment about last season or a CEO of a school writing a letter threatening to banish the sponsors (Hibernians) of the trophy unless they turn over the shillelagh. They had originally planned to keep it until this year after the storm shortened game last Septrember. Both teams probably can play better than they did. Maybe there will be a rematch. I hope so.
  16. Bragging rights to the Tigers for a mission accomplished. More work left to be done. Enjoy tonight. Start a new week on Monday. Keep your eyes on the prize.
  17. Region 7 Winner St. Xavier 306 Justin Thomas 74 Fr. Daniel Iceman 76 Sr. David Payne 77 So. David Harper 79 Sr. Justin Wagner 79 Sr. Region 7 Runner-Up Christian Academy-Louisville 312 Mike McDade 74 Sr. Bland Hance 76 Jr. Gordy Hoagland 80 Sr. Rob Clark 82 So. Matt Jones 84 Jr. Individual Qualifiers (Top 3 Not on qualifying team) Sam Zirnheld Trinity (Louisville) 75 Sr. Dustin Denzik Oldham County 76 Sr. John Smither DuPont Manual 77 Sr.
  18. Tough D from both teams. Big Crowd. The National Anthem was an all-time highlight. Manual's cheerleader has an incredible voice interrupted by PA problems multiple times. After the laast breakdown, both crowds simultaneously joined the song and provided one of the best renditions I have ever heard.
  19. Panthers need to keep their eye on the game being played. Score one for the home team if they do. 35-14
  20. NCAA rules do not permit a university to provide their facilities for free. They must charge rent for any activities.
