Wow I think you are leaving off a very Good Raceland team. You can say what you want but Danville is a 2A school playing 1A football( my opinion has no right in 1A). Frankfort playing in possibly the worst 1A district in the state.Pikeville also has a very weak district this year. Don't forget about LCA they are a very good team also. Paris and Bath Co. are no slouches either.
I'm not leaving them off...This is the BGP latest poll

Heres the current rankings:
1) Danville
2) Beechwood
3) Bardstown
4) NCC
Click here for the rest of the rankings!
IMO, I find it hard to believe NCC is still at #4 and ahead of Cov Holy Cross. If anything, they should be in the 8-10 range with Cov Holy Cross just a notch or 2 ahead of that. I also can't see Somerset being deservant of a top 10 ranking, based on what they've done year to date..Not saying they won't improve and move themselves into that spot, but, what have they done to merit it now..
What does everyone else think? Are the rankings about right? If not, what would you change? Who would you add or take away?

:thumb: Highlands played Male in a game situation scrimmage and scored 53 points on them..I think that could be considered competing with them........:thumb:
Surely, you don't take scrimmage games to mean anything..Plus, where did I mention Male..They're usually good, but, imo, aren't on St X and Trinitys level. I would like to see Hoover play Cinci St X or 1 of the other CGL powers...I think that would be a good ballgame to see...
-
Trimble Co is 5-1, but, they're probably alot like Fulton City...padded record against the "Weak sisters of the Poor"....
-
It would be surprising if they beat Pikeville. Pikeville beat Harlan in the playoffs last year 29-0 and is a much better team this year.
Harlan is better, too...I'd call it an upset, but, not a huge one...
-
I'd say it's a stretch to call Green County "decent" ... in any case, they won't beat Bethlehem. Trimble County has played one of the state' softest schedules.
OKAY then, Lets just say Frankfort, Danville, Holy Cross and Bardstown.. Still unlikely they make the final 4...I'm still selling on them...
-
BRJB, I'm not sure what team you support, but consider this. At least Trinity can generate a discussion of such a game. Not too many other teams would even generate a discussion. It's lonely at the top.
Are there any other options for a Trinity or St X...They are clearly the cream of the crop in Ky.. Numbers alone is enough and throw in the Private School issue and they are head and shoulders ahead, in most years. I would think anything less than a state championship for either, would be considered a dissapointment..Are there any kind of Private School leagues they could play in and get out of the KHSAA fold? Not trying to get anything started, just curious if there is such a league...Sort of like what Oak Hill Academy does in basketball...
-
I'd like to see one of the GCL teams give em a try---St X, Moeller, Elder, etc....One of these may have a chance, in most years...Can't see any Ky team that could compete with exception of MAYBE T and X and that would be a big maybe...
-
I think it's interesting that the top 3 AA teams all play in A now...granted Belfry, Russell and Mercer move up, but, theres still several AA teams now that will stay in AA....Not trying to get another "Who's Better 1a or 2a" thread going, just thought it interesting...
-
Must be playing up next 2 years to make up for this year ...
-
The Tigers defense has been very suspect all year and Calloway has a decent offense, but, the Lakers defense is pretty bad, too, and the Tigers T&T combo will be too much for them to handle...Hopkinsville 48 Calloway Co 21
-
Frankfort, I'll grant you. Campbellsville and Green County would be huge upsets.
Yeah, Campbellsville's a stretch..Green Co's a decent team though and could pull an upset...How about Trimble Co then. They have a decent record. The point was, they're in a very tough region and there are too many good teams to expect more than maybe 1 upset, much less 2 or 3 to make it to the final 4...
-
Cov Holy Cross - buy - NKY 1a is a little down this year and they've already beaten NCC, so, you know they're just as capable of beating Beechwood...
Harlan - Buy. Played Breathitt tough, who's every bit as good, if not better than Pikeville and Somerset. an upset to either would not be that surprising...
Bethlehem - Sell. If they're fortunate enough to upset Holy Cross again, they'll still have a Bardstown and/or Danville in there sights. Not to mention Frankfort, Campbellsville, Green Co, who could beat them on any given night..

A close call from a weak Crittenden team and an overall weak schedule makes me suspect that Metcalfe may be a little overrated..Hancock's not great, but have played better competition and should make the difference.
Hancock Co 27 Metcalfe Co 14

This may be a team hitting their stride at the right time, but I still think they have some questions on defense to answer before the playoffs.
Thats a big understatement...There offense is pretty good, but, there D has given up tons this year
-
They did...Good job CC...Now they need a stop...
-
CC had better take advantage of this drive if they want any hope of staying in this game
-
Is the West just really down this year or does Caldwell actually have a legit chance to dethrone the Belfry's, Russell's, and the reast of the East?
In my opinion, there are no dominant teams in rgn1 this year..there's 4 good teams that could play each other 10 times and probabaly split..One of these 4 will most likely come out of the rgn-OCath,Caldwell,Trigg or Ft Campbell, but, then theres several other teams who could, on a given night, knock any of these 4 off, but, I'd put them on a little lower level- Heath, Lone Oak, Webster, Monroe and Edmonson...i don't think any of these could regularly beat the russells, mercers or westerns out there, but, on a given night, you never know...
-
They keep racking up the big wins. For someone more familiar with them than I, how do they figure into the top-10 mix?
Caldwell is playing well and have had some breaks go there way...I've only seen them once and that was against Mayfield in the season opening Bowl game and they didn't look great then, but Mayfield had alot to do with that...At this point though, I definately feel they deserve to be in the top 10, probably in the 7-10 range, but, no higher right now...
-
Coach John Myers Russellville squad got a key Rgn.1, Dist.2 victory tonight and improved to 5-1 on the season..This win should make them the team to beat with there only real challenge coming up in 2 weeks vs Metcalfe Co..This team has some very good skilled players and I fully expect to see them in Round 3 of the playoffs facing off with Coach Myers old buddies of Mayfield...And if they do, they'll probably be sporting an 11-1 record.. That one would be worth seeing..
-
Were there ANY good Class A games tonight? NCC and Beechwood tomorrow, but other than that it seems like it was JV night.
Looks to me like the Mayfield, Bardstown and Danville games were all carbon copies of each other...Once again in '06, the cream is rising to the top. Can't wait till the day after Thanksgiving... Good luck the rest of the way to all..

I agree with you Austydak on LCA...I believe they should be in Top 10 right now
