  1. I believe Morris will be The Man this year...He improved tremendously last year from the year before, even though it was just 1/2 a year and he never was in tip top shape. I see 16-18 pts a game, 7-9 rebounds..

Bradley will be a more valuable point guard than Rondo was. He's definately a better scorer and shooter and as good a penetrater. They'll miss Rondo on the defensive end more than anything, but Bradleys no slouch there either. Look for 12-13 pts p/g from him and a couple of steals and 4-5 assists...

Perry gained alot of confidence in the NCAAs last year and will be the glue that keeps things together. He won't be a big #s guy, but will have his days. I see 10-11 per game, 6-7 rebounds...

Crawford will have his coming out party this year. He has NBA aspirations and knows it's his time to stake his claim. I look for him to be very similar to what Bogans was for UK a few yrs back. 14-15 pts and getting back to his natural 2 guard position..

Stevenson will get alot of playing time at the 4, but, I wouldn't expect alot this year. Look for Thomas to step up and get the significant minutes. He's another Sr who's been in the fold for awhile and the combo of the 2will contribute 12-13 a game and 6-7 rebounds...

Meeks, Jasper, Porter will see enough minutes to contribute and spell the starters with not alot of dropoff in the perimeter...

Woo and Carter will add depth to the frontline and will need to play well for the Cats to make a strong NCAA run as depth here seems to be the Cats only notable weakness...

  2. Fleming is better, now alot better I wouldnt go as far as to say that much better. A 2 td spread doesnt justify to me Fleming being that much better than East and West. After all they did give up 21 points to West with their Varsity in.

Are you kidding me, Fleming is alot better than East or West...West got pummelled by Bath Co and Estill Co, 2 very weak teams and East was pummelled by 40 by Raceland, whos pretty good, but Fleming would compete with Raceland and possibly even beat them..

  3. Going from 4 classes to 6 seems ridiculous to me. Why not 5, if they were wanting to expand? There are approximately 210-220 schools who play football. That would be approx. 42-44 per classification. That would at least give you either 5 or 6 teams in each district and would allow teams placed in a 6 team district to more easily play up, as long as they were going up to a 5 team district in the higher class.

I don't think teams should be allowed to play up but 1 level. Russellville, for example, is playing up from 1a to 3a next year and I believe Highlands is playing up 2 levels as well.

Lastly, who says you have to split it equally..I liked the old format where you had teams with under 400 students in 1a, 400-599 in 2a, 600-800 in 3a, etc..My numbers may be off, but, you get the point...That way, say in 4a now, only enrollments with 1400 and above and approved teams that get allowed to play up..There may be only 24 to 30 teams that would be in it, but the enrollment disparity would be decreased and the competiveness of the lower classes would be greater...just my opinion..

What does everyone think about the 6 class system and can anyone explain to me why a 5 class system wasn't discussed or just jump in with any comments on the above points...

  4. It is not like they are running away with this poll.

Also if you combine districts and only look at regions then Region 3 and region 4 are almost at a dead heat.

Third it would be interesting to see how many teams are represented in each district. Or better yet how many teams with winning records in each district. My point is only that teams that are not doing well for the most part probably are not going to spend a great deal of time on BGP.

I would venture to say that the majority if not all of the 28 people who voted in rgn 3, dist 5 are NKY fans or more specifically Highlands, Beechwood or Cov Cath fans...Whereas the other districts would be split between alot more teams....

  5. Both teams come in with identical 7-2 records and both are coming off 2 key district losses to WCentral and Christian Co...I think these teams are pretty even with the edge going to the Marshalls mainly because of there star RB Alan Williams...Both have solid line play. If it's a rainy nasty night, that'll favor the Eagles and negate the speed advantage the Marshalls have, but, if it the field conditions are good then the Marshalls should have a few more playmakers and pull it out....Who wins and why? What's everyone else think?

  6. Russell hasn't had to play there starters for more than a half in the last 5-6 weeks...Fleming isn't a great team, but, they are alot better than Russells recent competition and it'll take more than a half to pull away from Fleming...This game is just what Russell needs right now, but, the question is, can they turn up the cruise control they've been on for the last month and a half...IMO, they'll come out hot and then find out Fleming doesn't go away so easily and get frustrated and Fleming will build confidence as the game goes on and make a few big plays to pull the upset....Bad news is, when they meet again in 2 weeks, Russell will show why they're one of the favorites to win it all.....

  7. Any early predictions on how we'll see these games between ranked teams shake out this week? My predictions:

#3 Warren Central over #2 Christian County by 6

    #4 Owensboro over #9 Apollo by 15

#6 Marshall County over #8 Graves County by 14

#7 Hopkinsville over #10 Paducah Tilghman by 3

#4 Trigg County over #8 Lone Oak by 14

I'm not bold enough to pick scores or amounts, but, I would pick the same teams you did to win....

  8. In 1a, Frankfort should be ahead of Danville and LCA should be ahead of Raceland and NCC should be in the Top 10 somewhere, replacing Metcalfe.

In 2a, it looks pretty good.

In 3a, Cov Cath needs to be in top 4, at least, E.Jessamine should be in there somewhere, replacing Bell.

In 4a, Manual should be in there somewhere, ahead of W.Central and I would take Scott out.

    Just my opinion...

  9. Frankfort should be ranked above Danville, because Frankfort is better than Danville. Frankfort killed Danville and Frankfort has more athletes than Danville. You can talk the talk because the panthers can walk the walk. :walk: :walk:

I have to agree with you.. A convincing win and overall ytd performance should have pulled them ahead of Danville...I think 3rd or 4th is where they should be and Danville right behind them, because, other than the Frankfort loss, they've been pretty impressive...

  10. When you compare scores, you must take into account what would happen if the game was replayed. Would Mayfield beat Caldwell County tonight? I'm not so sure. Would Fort Campbell beat Paducah Tilghman? I'm not so sure. Would Mayfield beat Paducah Tilghman? Remember, you're looking at some scores that happen two months ago. A ratings system has to include an entire season, not just the games YOU want to look at.

That was my point. Westsider used Graves as an example and I simply used a few other games that could easily sway things in the other direction. The Tighman and Graves game and the Mayfield and Graves game were both several weeks ago, too... I have to disagree when you say you have to take into account what would happen if the game was replayed...Why? Does this matter more than the actual result..I don't play what ifs unless they are in the same district and have a chance to play each other again. The only true reasoning to ratings have to be whats already happened and I can't see a computer system taking a What If" scenario over something that did actually happen...

  11. Mayfield and Tilghman went to overtime ... also could have gone either way. Tilghman's schedule is tougher than Mayfield's, as it should be.

Plus, Tilghman lost to Graves County 21-14 and Mayfield lost 28-0 to the Eagles ... and those subpar performances against Murray and Fulton City haven't helped.

I guess if you want to play the comparable score game using Graves as an example, I can do the same with Union Co....Pt wins 34-6, Mayfield wins 57-12, or we can compare Mayfield defeating Caldwell 35-7 and Caldwell beating Ft Campbell 17-14 and Ft Campbell beating PT...If we're going to compare, let's compare all, not just what favors one...and let's not forget the most telling story...Head to Head...Mayfield won, regardless if it were by 1 or 41, it was still a win and I still think PT being ranked higher just shows how flawed the system is...

I agree to disagree on the schedules..They look pretty even to me...look at the previous rankings before the Murray and Fulton City games, PT was higher then, too...Yes, the PT game could have gone either way and I almost said that, but, chose to get to the point.. I feel WCentral is better than anyone Mayfield has played, but, Hopkinsville is as good as anyone else PT has played and both have played Graves, so thats a wash...So, it really comes down to PT playing Henderson and Ft Campbell and Mayfield playing Marshall and Caldwell...not much difference to me...now if you throw in district games, you may have a point, but, i'm not real sure Calloway and Hopk Central are too much better than Fulton City & Fulton Co.

  13. Mayfield ranked below Tilghman and Hopkinsville...I could make a case for Hopkinsville, playing the likes of Male and Ridgeway and the Mayfield game could have gone either way, but, Tilghmans schedule is very similar to Mayfields, they lose head to head and they have an overall losing record. Go figure!

  14. If Danville and Frankfort meet again, which is very likely under the new playoff system (don't get me started ...), I would still probably pick Danville to win. But it's hard to overlook a 20-point spanking.

And thats okay..I may be inclined to pick 'em myself, but, do you think Danville should be ranked higher at this point in the season, based on whats transpired?

  15. Danville's oppositions record is 42-47,and Frankforts is 44-38,and they beat Danville by 20. Still ranked two spots behind them, doesn't make much sense.Like has been stated on here won't matter starting next week anyway.Just would be nice to have your kid's recognized for the win.

Thats the whole point...Some teams get recognized and some don't and imo, it depends more on past tradition than whats actually been done on the field...Granted, for preseason rankings and even into the 1st few weeks of the season, this could be understood, but, when 1 team clearly beats another, has a similar record against similar opposition and similar scores to the same opposition, it just doesn't make sense...

  16. IMO, Mayfield came into the last 2 weeks knowing they should win the games and didn't give any respect to there opposition..Not just the players but the coaches too and when they feel that way, it's not the kids fault..They seem to play up or down to the opposition, but, with all the turnovers and penalties lately, that'll eventually come back to haunt you...

  17. If Holy Cross had played the same schedule NewCath did, they would have a heck of a lot more than one loss.

I don't doubt that, so, the only real comparison you can make is against the same opposition they have played and head to head...When you look at the same teams they've played, the scores are similar and they beat them head to head, so, wheres the logic except for the traditional name over one with not such history, plain and simple...
