  1. Final...

This game was closer than alot would have thought..FC actually led 8-0 early in the game on a 65 yard fumble return...There offense never really threatened until late in the 4th qtr but was turned back by the Cards. There defense played well the whole game and was aided by a couple of Cardinal miscues deep in FC territory. The Cards defense was solid, but the offense struggled with penalties, fumbles, interceptions, etc...

  2. I think this game will be closer than many expect it to be. If Graves holds on to the ball and establishes the run, they could pull off the upset at home.

I agree...I expect Christian Co to pull it out, but, it'll be closer than most here are predicting. IMO, there's not alot of difference in Marshall and Graves teams and they gave Christian all they wanted...

  3. I expect Mayfield to play better than last week, but, FC isn't an easy place to play and they're better than alot think and playing with confidence. I know they've played a cupcake schedule all year, but, they're not just winning, they're winning big almost every week...Mayfield 28 F.City 12

  4. yea I know Henry Clay gives up some points, but they score alot also. There also 9-0 against some pretty stiff competition. There the only undefeated team in the top 10, how are they not higher than #6?

There is no possible way that Highlands and Covington Catholic are better football teams. I guess they get bonus points for being smaller schools and having more recent championships.

I know alot of folks on here disagree with you, but, I have to agree. An undefeated 4a team who's played a solid schedule should get the nod. I'd disagree if H.Clays schedule was full of cupcakes, but, it's not...

  5. I was not comparing the 2 teams, just stating that if Hoptown is a top 25 team, Mercer sure as heck should be also and I am a Hoptown fan.

I don't think Hoptown deserves to be this high either..I don't think Mercer would handle Memphis Ridgeway, Male or Christian Co either, but, would probably beat Mayfield. I'd say they would be 5-3, which is better than what Hoptown has done. I'm not convinced Mercer deserves to be the 25th team in though..

  6. I think unless Bowling Green loses or they have a really bad showing they should stay in the #1 spot. I just think it would be unfair if they fell without losing or having a really bad game.

I agree...A 1 loss team with quality wins(W.Central,Christian Co,WEast) and a close loss to another quality opponent(St X) should be enough for them to hold onto the #1 slot...

Another question...Should the loser of the Cov Cath/Highlands game drop in the poll? This would give either 4 losses I believe with teams such as Central, Lex Catholic, Johnson Central, etc with only 1 or 0 losses...

  7. One thing about this game that should be considered...In most years, Danvilles pre-district schedule has prepared them better than most of there competition...I don't neccessarily think thats the case this year..Frankfort has played some bigger teams(Franklin Co., Mason Co.) who, are arguably on an even keel with the Boyles & Southwesterns...With this in mind, I don't think there will be any intimidation factor or doubt about what they can do.. I think this will be a close game, but, I do see Danville pulling it out..27-21

  8. Really? The 97-98 roster was pretty daggone good. Sheppard, Edwards, Mohammed, Magloire, Padgett, Turner, Evans, Bradley, Mills, etc. Alot of those guys saw and are still seeing NBA time.

The program was considered by most to be at the top along with Duke at that time.

And of all these kids, only Sheppard and Turner were top 100 recruits..Edwards was lightly recruited, Mohammed and Magloire were both considered projects, Evans was a Juco transfer and Mills was a walkon that later earned a scholarship and Padgett was close to a Top 100 but not quite...

I have to agree that the cupboard wasn't bare but not exactly what I'd consider great either...Padgett, Magloire and Mohammed are the only ones playing in the NBA and each were suspect to ever get to that level out of High school..Tubby did a great job developing them.

  9. I think it's pretty funny that you only included the BIG 4, so to speak.. What BIG 4 may that be?...I don't think any of the "BIG 4" have had enough success to warrent the name...Westerns never even been to a championship, much less won one...Russell won last year, but, certainly 1 year doesn't warrent it, Mercer Co has no past tradition or success at all to justify it. Belfry probably warrents the name more than the rest, but, I could name a dozen teams who've accomplished as much the past 3-4 years and certainly ones who've done it alot longer....

You act as if one of these teams is a lock to win it...We may as well tell Caldwell, Ft Campbell, Oboro Cath, Trigg Co, Middlesboro, Breathitt, Larue, Sheldon Clark and others, not to bother playing the games...

  10. I still believe REGION 3 is the strongest in Class A again this year...JMO.

I hate to disagree, but, imo, rgn2 is still the best rgn from top to bottom, as they are in most years, but, I will say rgn3 is a very close 2nd to rgn 2..

    rgn 2

    Danville, Bardstown, Frankfort, Bethlehem, Lou.H.Cross

    rgn 3

Beechwood, NCC, LCA, Raceland, Cov Holy Cross

    pretty close

  11. Mad'ville has some talent and can play with alot of teams on any given night(Ft Campbell), but, can just as easily get beat by alot of teams that shouldn't beat them...This game, imo, depends on which one shows up. If the 1st shows, it'll be a fairly close game, but, if the latter shows up, it'll be a long night....I gotta feeling, being a district game and rival, it'll be closer than most think, but the Tigers will prevail...33 to 17
