Henry Clay and Hopkinsville are the only teams to really light up the scoreboard with meaningful points with the run and Marshall Co has no Minnifields or Taylors carrying the ball for them. Christians schedule has been much tougher as well.
Thats hilarious..MCs Alan Williams is one of the top RBs in ths state..I think he has like 30 Tds or somewhere close in 7 games...I've seen he and Taylor both play and imo, he's better than ET...
-
I can see the Cats with a 22-24 win season, 11-5 or 12-4 in conference play, a # 3-4 seed and an elite 8 trip...To me, this is best case scenario...
At worse, 19-21 wins, 9-7 to 10-6 in conference play, a 6-7 seed and knocked out in 2nd round of ncaa tourney...
-
I believe CC has the athletes but MC has the better TEAM..I'll take Alan Williams and Co in a close one....MC 41 CC 33
-
Hend. Co. - 28 Apollo 14 ... will be closer than most think...
Daviess Co. 26 Logan Co 21 ... Daviess has the better talent and depth, but will find a way to keep Logan close...
Owens Sr 56 Grayson Co. 21 ... running clock in 2nd half and lots of jv action. Grayson makes it respectable with a couple of late scores...
Owens. Cath. 42 Edmonson Co. 21 ... OC will be a little cranky for this one and score will be closer than actual result...
-
Russellvilles schedule has been a little tougher and I think that may better prepare them for this game, but, imo, these 2 are very evenly matched and it could go either way. A couple of breaks either way may decide it...I'll go with Coach Myers and company by a hair...Russellville 27 Metcalfe 21

Noonan, is he #6 who I saw against Fulton? One thing to remember, is that the greatest RB in the world is only as good as his O-line in front of him.... How good will the O-line be to block for those young men you mentioned for the next couple of years.....
Actually there line is relatively young too...A few of the kids who probably wouldn't have played if not for injuries, have gotten some quality varsity experience and with all the blowouts, have seen solid time in the 2nd half of several games..The Cards biggest concern for next year, IMO, is finding a replacement at the QB spot, where Shelton has been such a big factor in there success the past 3 years...If they can get an adequate QB to go along with these young, talented RBs, the future looks bright...

In the Class A rankings, Frankfort, Pikeville, NCC and Somerset all out of the top 10 loop..WOW..thats hard to believe. I have nothing against the Harlans, Russellvilles and Racelands of the world, but, I'd take any of the afformentioned 4 against those 3...
I don't have any problem with the 2a rankings other than maybe moving those same 10 around a bit...
3a looks pretty good too, but, I still have a hard time with Hopkinsville in there ahead of Franklin Co.
4a is a complete mess...Apollo at #9...Theres not a team behind them I think they would beat...Marshall maybe a Low Top 10 team at best, but, more likely in the 11-15 range and probably behind Henderson,WCentral, Christian and Owensboro in there own region, much less against the rest of the state..

CC 2 OwSr 1 MC 1, HC 1, WC 1...this should be put in a poll format
-
Nashville Brentwood Academy improves to 6-1 on the season while MBA drops to 4-4.. Brentwoods only loss has come to Div II, AAA McCallie 27-24, who most felt was an upset...McCallie is also 6-1, with its only loss coming to 2a power Alcoa 24-21...
Thought this might be of some interest to the Manual and Trinity fans, who have played these teams...
-
PRP is struggling, Manual is coming on...I'll take Manual 28-14
-
LCA should be the favorite, but Paris has a quality team and could pull an upset...I'll go with LCA in a close one - 28-21

Exactly. However, this is where the whole scheduling notion gets misrepresented. Let us say Fulton City had played Mayfield's schedule... they would probably have 1 win at this time and would not be any more prepared to take on Mayfield.
Fulton City, imo, has done the correct thing. They put some winnable games on their schedule to get the community and school a little confidence. Remember, we are still dealing with 14-17 year old kids; emotions/confidence mean the world to their success.
I feel they need the easy games to build there confidence, but, I would still throw a tough 1 or 2 in there somewhere, just to see where there weaknesses lie so they could work on them before the big games come..

Christian County, can Tandy carry them on his back?
They've definately got the talent to, but, seems like every year they find a way to get upset...Maybe this will be there year?
-
Fulton City has been winning impressively this year, putting up alot of points, but, there schedule has been very weak...I haven't seen them play, but, I don't think there schedule has prepared them very well for the likes of a Mayfield caliber team...
-
Who comes out here this year in the playoffs...There are 7 really good teams who could all stake a claim..Lets hear it and why you think they'll do it..
Heres the 7 to choose from:
Marshall Co - 7-0
Henderson Co - 6-1
Owensboro Sr - 6-1
Apollo - 6-1
Graves Co - 6-1
Christian Co - 5-2
Warren Central - 5-2
I'm gonna go with Owensboro Sr myself...They've got a very stout defense and are in the easier of the 2 districts, imo...

Green County lost to Metcalfe County 20-0 and lost to Kentucky Country Day. I think the upset is more of a reflection on Holy Cross than it is Green County.
I know..I agree 100%..Just goes to show anythings possible, huh...

I'd say it's a stretch to call Green County "decent" ... in any case, they won't beat Bethlehem. Trimble County has played one of the state' softest schedules.
Would you call Green Co. decent now after the Holy Cross win...Do you now believe they're capable of an upset.. ;)
-
Fulton City looks to have a solid offensive team this year..Murray is down from past years, but, always capable of the upset..I think Fulton City will handle Fulton Co and be the 2 seed behind Mayfield...Can't see em handling the Cards though, too many weapons and diversity for the Bulldogs..
-
Wow, I thought this one would have been closer, looks like the Metcalfe/Russellville game should be a doozy.
I thought so, too...After that close call with Crittenden last week, I thought
they may be a little weaker than 1st anticipated, but, after this win, they're clearly a team to be reckoned with. Actually Crittenden is playing alot better as of late, after a very slow start to the season, so, maybe last week wasn't that bad a win...

You are correct, Westsider...I'm not trying to take anything away from Taylor, he's tough, but, imo, Williams is the best RB i've seen all year..He's so hard to tackle and the Cardinals hit him time and again and he just kept those legs churning..I can't say that for Taylor because he was never touched in the game I saw..
