  1. Stupied question but you know me I just have to ask. Please give me the reasons of bunting on a two out situation. It has always bugged me so I am just curious are more for this situation or against.
  2. Didnt get to make it to the game. Warm but no warm enough for the old man so when someone gets more details please add them. Thanks for the post doc and keeping us informed of our Rams.
  3. The list of boys have all pitched. Some of those same young men have got us out of alot of hard innings. I think rolltide is right practice is key. They need to throw everyday whether at practice or own time. Its like football players and lifting you have to lift on the offtime.
  4. Games should only be played when both teams can get everyone there safely. Everyone does not live close to the school and the county schools have many back roads that doesnt get that sunlight the main highways do. Call me old-fashioned but no school I think they might want to think about cancelling its not worth the safety of the kids.
  5. I tend to agree with pickoff both Jones and Huffman have the speed for the outfield but when he is needed as a relief catcher he is solid there also.
  6. Think he is back at KCU but due to injury and surgery is not playing a sport at this time.
  7. That is right Danny Jones was another solid player that never questioned where he played and was solid in every thing he was asked to do. I just now made the same comment about Jones and Huffman and a couple more on the football side of the ball. Some of these young men as well as parents, grandparents, fans, coaches, docs and all see this and it is always great when these boys see that we notice them and we are encouraging by team but also sometimes to remember to name them all.
  8. Oh I totally agree with both those statements. Its just going and watching the games you will find that you have some solid players that sometimes need mentioning. As far as last year minus seniors you have Carver, Wilson, Reynolds, Reed, Mckee, Huffman and then there were JV guys that came up that showed potential. On the comments that have been made about coaching no matter what side the fence you are on whether you think there are people out there that are more than willing to help and would be an asset or whether you think everything is just fine the way it is there is another alternative that will somewhat help. Get your baseball player some extra help. I am a firm believer if they are struggling in an area get them some help. There have been several men that would be outstanding baseball help and if it is not possible for them to help on a high school level then go to them and ask them to help your child outside of practice. Lets build our team up. Coach Vanderhoof is a fine coach and I seriously doubt he would mind at all that boys are getting help as long as we are taught Raceland Ball.
  9. I am really going to get in trouble for this one however its just an opinion. I do not think the coaches should be scheduling games when school is out for the weather. Maybe I am old fashioned but a few years ago I was around two students that were injured in a car accident trying to get to a ballgame that was lets get one in on a day school was called off. If the roads are to slick for school lets not assume that everyone lives right around the school or that all parents are going to make the decision to drive. Is it more important to play the game or the kids safety. I love basketball but I question decisions made about these games. We have alot of transfer students and that needs to be thought about.
  10. Its been awhile since I have had the time to get in but this might be a good one. I think it is great that we are asking and having active discussions about tranfer students but in turn it drives me nuts that we dont see the potential we have. Boys that are at every practice and played varsity and is out at KC diamond getting pitching help or those that played JV and are up and coming showed promise last year. Can we please give these boys a vote a confidence try and not leave anyone out cause I can think of about four right now that hasnt been mentioned on this post that was asked to play for post 76 and that is a compliment. Folks get to know your Ram players and lets take a little focus off of transfers. While they are welcomed and great we have some really fine players that are here and up and coming.
  11. There are some starters being left out. Huffman has played entire time since 7th and is versatile. He played center last year
  12. Congrads to the entire Ram team on another win. Great Job Robbie Logan. The line will always be near and dear to my heart. I totally agree with cvillecat about penalities. They were fixed but we are just receiving to many. I know the coaches will take care of that in practice. Thank you ryanparker on your support outside of your team. It is always appreicated by a Ram.
  13. I will not comment on the ejection since I personally havent seen the film and was not on that side but there was some major over dramatics on the penalities. The Independent reads 8 for 70 and 4 for 25. I think that is quite a bit of difference then several saying 16 penalties for LCA and two for Raceland. That game could have gone either way and we all know it. Its two great football teams. There will always be a few that will say home cooking as well as its the refs fault. Frankly we need to remember we played four quarters of hard fought football not just one play. LCA fans have always been very kind to us when we come to Lexington and I feel like we try and return the hospitality. I wish them the best of luck in the regular season of play. To our moderators the Russell fan that just continuely leaves comments on all of our threads in the most negative of ways is why we are losing our bluegrass family. I have received several private messages that people have had it and would not return. We have not played Russell and I wish them all the best but heating the fire every game we play against teams we have good healthy competitive relationships with is not right.
  14. Congrads to the Rams. I would like to take a little time to praise some of the guys that normally play JV for stepping up to Varsity. I said in an earlier thread in the year how much I think we were going to appreciate Coach Vanderhoof for not going for those shut outs and letting those boys play. We had several out there tonight that did a great job. Loren Huffman caught the first pass shown on tv. Litteral had a great run. Jones was in playing hard. By the way he went to the hospital and by all account has a concussion but I can't confirm that so lets all pray for a speedy recovery. After losing Tolliver I was glad to see those boys being ready to step in. Sorry if I missed any names. Second I was at a college game that had mid southern officials. I have never in my entire life seen so many yellow flags. It wasnt a sea of the school colors it was a sea of yellow for one team. Now I could get on the college thread most of those calls were done on the other side also. so I could get on here and say one team had about 4 and the other it seemed like18 but I can only hope that thats what they are being trained for and I am not an official. I saw no home cooking tonight just a hard fought ballgame and I had friends and family on both sides. We had people doing the chains so they were really close to activity on the other side. I wish LCA a safe way home and good luck on the rest of their season.
  15. Ok here goes. I am going against my team Rams so they will prove me wrong and I love when they do. I give props to Denton and Carver but I said it in a thread another time lets give some love to the defense cause you never know one of those linemen may pull out an upset. As I said before remember Thompson? We all know Logan can do it too!!!!! Boys practice hard and stay safe this week. It will be a big night at RAM STADIUM.
  16. I do not think Raceland will have an easy win against Russell not even close but as we have said time after time. One ballgame at a time. All I have heard for the last couple of years is Russell cant be beat by any team around this little area. Ok now that that has been proven wrong. Lets get down to buisness and make sure Eastern Kentucky football is well represented all the way through.
  17. Ok I am always the spoiler. Grads on the Rams but WLGC did a really good job announcing this year but a continuous comment they made was how both sides fans were silent. He was shocked at how quiet and to use my own word interested the Ram fans seemed. Ok, I am not cheerleading person but we have the best fans around and our fans do just about every cheer the girls will teach us but we really cant do that when you push the girls and the mascot all the way down to the goal post. Fairview needs to come up with a better system that girls and the mascots can be in front of their crowd. This coming from one that has both male and female grandkids. Way to go RAMS!!!!!!!!!
  18. Hey can anyone give me the score and some details on the Raceland and East Carter JV game?
  19. If I am not mistaken, yes there is most certainly an offense or they wouldnt be that kind of points. I personally take my hat off to the defense. I have seen more than one Raceland team win a ballgame with their defense. Sometimes the defense are out there what seems to be the entire ballgame. You know every once in awhile that offense cant be predicted I am sure there are more but sometimes your defense makes the offensive plays. Example: Robbie Logan and Clint Thompson
  20. My opinion this game will come down to penalitiles. I have been watching several different games over the weekend and I think before this game I am going to Walmart and buy some yellow material so that I can get in on the flag throwing. I have seen more yellow in two days then I have a lifetime. I watched a high school and college game for clarification. But the yellow rules on this one.
  21. I will tell you how important playing those JV games are. I personally know about three young men that did not start Varsity their freshmen and sophmore years but by working hard and playing every game freshman and JV they had they got stronger and received the attention they needed to start their junior year. These players ended up with all area and all district etc... The more playing time, the harder you work in the weight room, the faster you are on that Varsity team. It really bothers me when I hear high school boys act like it is some kind of demotion to play JV. To me I would want to be seen by my coach as a hard worker and improving then just stand on the sidelines of a Varsity game.
  22. That is a great compliment for the Rams. I just personally dont want them to think that. I would like for them to keep the mentality of we are a football team that has to play great together. Way to early to put them at best in the region. I am going to go with the Rams on this one. Personal opinion not that it counts is dont let down second half. Doesnt matter how much you are leading by nothing is given for free.
