  1. Didn't know these scores when I posted but just goes to my point. Deming/Augusta just don't have the population/school size/depth/feeder programs to compete with Campbell Co. I think Campbell Co is much closer to the 5,6,7 spot in the region with Scott than listed out of the top 10. I would rate Silver Grove ahead of both Deming & Augusta because they have a legitimate star in Corey Pelle, imo a top five player in the region.
  2. Everybody loves the small school/underdog but we are getting carried away with Augusta and Deming in the top ten ahead of Campbell Co. Even with everything CampCo lost they are still significantly better than those two schools. To say that Deming has a couple of 8th graders that could play with any one elses varsity in the region???? I am going to go out on a limb and say they are not even the best 8th graders in the region, yet the fact that they might be thought of as varsity contributors tells you everything you need to know about Deming being a top ten team.
  3. :ylsuper: Scott & Campbell are both better than PC this year. Scott & Campbell match up could be most interesting games in the district. Scott is going to have to really shoot the ball well to stay in games. They are not going to rebound the ball well and interior defense could be an issue.
  4. Good to see Chris Bray from Boone Co getting some recognition. Good player!
  5. :thumb: :thumb: I just don't see anyone on the current roster that can replace what Lawson or Keener did for that team. Both of those guys were very good high school players. I think Dixie has some very good talent "down on the farm", but think they are a year away from being serious regional contenders.
  6. AMEN!! When the districts were redone it was Christmas coming early for Dixie.:thumb:
  7. Will Scott be favored in any of their remaining games? I s this another 1 or 2 win season?
  8. Good to see Chris Bray getting some pub....if he could just keep focused on the game and not so much talking during the game! Good shooter and pretty athletic player! Agreed region goes thru Holmes especially if you only based it on talent, but they are only one on court/off court incident from an implosion. Big question...with as much fanfare/publicity as these guys have gotten since their youth basketball days as Tarheels if they don't win a second regional title how will their high school careers be viewed?
  9. Okay....I will take the bait! How will Dixie be better this year than last year?
  10. Isn't the signing period coming up in November? Any word on where Austin might sign? I still include Duran in any list that talks about D-1 ability from the 9th. I think if he hadn't signed to play football we would be discussing which D-1 basketball schools he would be considering.
  11. I think the big question for Scott is will Sharp have to do too much? Is he going to have to bring the ball up the floor and still be looked to score? He is a good rebounding guard and I wouldn't be surprised to see him lead the team in rebounding this year. Will Sharp and Quigley have enough confidence in their teammates that when they are doubled to throw the ball to Miller in the corner or Smith on the wing for the open shot?
  12. :thumb: :thumb: 34th is terrible! Dixie is going to be down this year and they will still have a trip to the regional. Dixie should never lose this district. When they redid the districts Dixie was given the biggest gift in NKy BB.
  13. Farris will run for 250 yards and Boone wins by at least 3 TD's
  14. I like Simon Kenton in the 8th but don't think it is a slam dunk. Need consistent play out of Hurd & Blevins
  15. Sharp & Quigley are good players but they had the advantage last year of playing with Howard. Teams this year are going to game plan for stopping those two players. Miller is going to have to guard big people all year. Cambell County has good size returning and I think that will give Scott problems. Thats why i call this one a toss up at this time. However, if Scott can get some consistent scoring from some one other than those three and a little bit of play from the bench I would be inclined to give them the edge for the #2 spot.
  16. Too hard to go undefeated in N Ky especially in that district. Holmes will be very tough if they can stay focused.
  17. Pelle is best individual player in district but don't know if he has the supporting cast to put them at #2. Think #2 is between Scott & Campbell and that one is too close too call.
  18. Going to go back a little further.... Turner from Dixie went on to play at U of L and Tom Thacker from Covington Grant. Add those to Beal, Schloemer and Draud
  19. As of right now thats not an overwhelming distinction! I think Campbell County wins this one pretty handily!
  20. Apples and oranges....both have great atmospheres but for different reasons. Seeing a big time game in either location is a basketball junkies dream.
  21. :thumb: :thumb: Brossart is going to be big and experienced. This senior class has won a lot of games in big time atmospheres. Anything can happen at tourney time.
  22. Hope for the coaches sake that these sophs are ready to compete at the varsity level. Just seems to be a big leap in faith that a sub-.500 frosh team could be considered deep in varsity contributors as sophs. With the limited size do you think that the freshman center you mentioned will have an opportunity to play some varsity minutes? Anybody else on the frosh level that might surprise people?
  23. I really like Brossart...probably see them more than any other 10th Region team, but Mason & GRC are 1a & 1b at this point. Tournament basketball being what it is with a team capable of getting hot at the right time I give Brossart the next spot.
