T has a lot to be proud of, they have done a great job of transforming their campus recently. I'm not sure where you're getting your SAT/ACT info, but your own published information shows that you're about a full point, not "within a few tenths," shy of us on the ACT. You all have improved the scores a lot over the past 5-6 years though. And before you throw out the "everyone takes the ACT at Trinity" remark, 98% of X students go on to college, so almost every student at X is taking it too, not just the best and brightest. Additionally, we don't just count our scholars, we count the students who go out and start a tremendous program like St. Joseph of Arimathea Society or who win Foreign Language fairs or students who volunteer for program like K.I.D.S. Cerebral Palsy. Of course all of our kids count and each have unique talents. 17, your concern with only football championships just proves that T is a one trick pony. I will concede that you have more state titles in football (although we own the head to head) and XC, but when it comes to the overall sustained success of the athletic department, as gauged by titles (even over just the past 15 years, so our ~100 years aren't factored in) in all sports, we are clearly ahead. Both schools have a bunch to be proud of and luckily they serve different crowds.

17, this year, you were 33% behind X. This was the worst year for NMSF X has had in recent memory. Overall, I'd say rear-view, but it will be interesting to see how X trends. 2007 -8 2006-19 2005-15 2004-23 2003-22 2002-26 That's as far back as I could find on X's website. Unfortunately, T's site doesn't have a functional "seach" feature, so I couldn't find their records.

TA, you are correct, I seemed to have skipped over your '06 championship.

I'm not sure why he picked that as his cutoff, but I would imagine that the further back you go, the more discrepancy between the two schools you would find. T has really come on of late in most programs, whereas X is currently at the lowest they've been in 10 years.

Diogenes, I found track and some tennis. X has 10 all-time titles in track and four in the last 15. T has 2 all-time titles in track and one in the last 15. I could only find tennis since '00. X has six of the last seven titles in tennis. T has one of the last seven titles in tennis.

Actually, I couldn't remember if it was '99-'00 or '00-'01, but it looks like we had five titles each year. In '99-'00 we won XC, football, golf, swimming and tennis. In '00-'01, we won soccer, swimming, track, wrestling and tennis. Between those two years, we won every sport, but baseball and basketball.

Centre, I know X has had 5 titles in one year twice. One was '62-'63 and the other was '00-'01. The '63 year was probably the more impressive, as I think there were only 8 or 9 KHSAA sanctioned sports at the time, whereas now there are 10. Even with 5 titles in '00-'01, our overall point total would be higher because of basketball, but I think you and I would both agree that a year with five state titles is more impressive than a year with two (you won golf in '03-'04 in addition to football) and good finishes elsewhere.

Used to be? Wow...I must have been dreaming about those 36-18 and 48-16 games within the past three years... XGrad, you're correct, club sports are not included.

The award was for the most successful program this past year. X's award was for sustained excellence and was ranked #14 in the country. Congrats to T though on being named the top overall program in the state last year. Pretty impressive too considering they were going against programs that have men's and women's programs, so twice the opportunity to succeed.

I think it'd be great if the former players formed a tunnel, oldest alumni to youngest, for the players to run though. I think it'd be very meaningful to have the old lead to the present.

If littering becomes a problem, there will just be more work for kids in JUG. As far as I'm concerned, it's a win-win. People get to tailgate and there would be even more reason not to get JUG.

That's what the administration is preparing for. They're bringing in portable concession locations for the crowd. I know a good number of people that are planning to come in from out of state to the opening game, so I hope there are more than 9,000. Better get there early! As Ox said, your questions have been answered (several times in some instances), so try rereading the thread if you have any more questions or comments (I'd love to hear how "stupid" the stadium looks one more time... ).

17, perhaps you should reread the thread. X did what they could to fit as many as possible on X's side. We couldn't move the stadium any further towards the parking lot due to the number of required spots. Additionally, a basketball arena will eventually be placed next to the fieldhouse, which will take up even more space. We did what we could with the space and regulations. X will have about 50% more seating than T (not counting standing room and temporary bleachers if needed). If you think space is at a premium at X, I can't imagine how bad you must think it is on Shelbyville. There, the home fans have to sit on two sides, while at X, if the visiting team brings more than 1,000 fans, they'll have to stand around the track or sit on the home side. Seems like you all have the bigger problem, as you'll fill your home side more frequently than we'll need extra room for visitors... Projections I've heard for opening night are around 9,000. There's not another big draw team until Cov. Cath comes to town in November, but by that time, weather will keep some away. In '08, X gets LexCath, Male and Manual at X.

Before being so hard on one of the best academic schools in the state, I'd at least learn the difference between "there" and "they're"... I'm curious though pld...you stated earlier that it doesn't matter how much you win or lose by, because regardless of the score, you either win or lose. That was your defense against people showing you how Manual has faired better against X/T/Male than the Lexington schools 90% of the time. I am correct in saying this, right? Well, if I am, then I'm wondering what happened from the time of this post to now. In that post, you state that Cincy schools don't blow out HHS and CovCath, so they're not "heads and shoulders" above them. If I understand that post correctly, you're saying that the score does matter, but now you've changed your tune. If the scores do matter (and I think they do), then the empirical evidence presented earlier that compared game scores across several years, should show you that Manual is probably as good or better than what Lexington has to offer. Of course, past performance is not an indicator of future results. The problem with your side of the debate, is that you offer very little evidence to show why you don't think they are, rather you sling mud.

17, it's been discussed on here already. There is room for a little less than 1,000 on the visitors' side. Other than Male, and Trinity games (and occasionally Manual) there won't be a need for that many visitors' seats. We'd rather have the large X crowd all together, rather than spread out on two sides. For games that need more than 1,000 for visitors, both taramacs have enough room for temporary bleachers to be set up and there will be plenty of standing room around the track.

I apologize, my recollection of that game was obviously incorrect. I half-listened to the game on the internet. I thought Male was up pretty big and T had a fantastic comeback. I used the last 3 years, because that's how long the seniors have been a part of their respective programs. There's no doubt T has dominated titles this decade and the series for that matter, but I just don't think it's accurate to say that at this point, T is heads and shoulders above the other two teams, especially when one of those teams beat them twice by over 18 points in the past three years. Better than, sure, but not heads and shoulders. Again, T's past three championships were decided in games against X and Male in which T created their break and won by a matter of inches. Three breaks go the other way, and you're looking at X with 3 titles since '03, Male with one and T with none. Just an observation on how easily things could be completely different. I don't want to turn this into an X/T/H contest though, this is about Lou./Lex.

Male lost by 6 inches to T last year after being up almost the entire game. Other than that game, they haven't played T since '02, so definitely not "yearly." X lost to Trinity last year 10-0 in a game that didn't make it to even the second quarter. In '05, X thumped Trinity 48-16 before losing by 8 in the state finals (in a game that came down to a 4th down stand for Trinity). In '04, X also thumped Trinity 36-18. So in the past 3 years, X is 2-2 against Trinity, with one of Trinity's wins coming from a rain-shortened game (in which they looked like they had clear control of the game). Trinity has had a fantastic run this decade, there's no denying that, but to act like X (or Male) hasn't been competitive with them is just false.
