14th Region Tournament Draw
bballer1 replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Wow! Just how i thought it would be. Looks as though Hazard could have a cake walk, although i look for KCC to knock them off. As for the other bracket, it's pretty well jammed up. Powell vs. JBS will be a dandy, if Powell can play like they have been as of late, they will beat the confused and disoriented JBS team. I look for Buckhorn to beat Breathitt in what some might call an upset, IMO Buckhorn is the better team. -
I'm making calls, I'll be sure to post it if i can find out. :ylsuper:

14th Region Tournament Draw
bballer1 replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This looks good, any of the top 5 or 6 could take it, depending on the draw. We could see some possible upsets. -
More than likely, I'd really like to know the factual information, what time and where, more importantly the draws.

Who you think has the best chance, to the worst chance. -
Rank the final 8, in your oppinion, from best chance to win to worst. Any thoughts?:dancingpa

That looks pretty good, would be a great game between Breathitt and JBS! I hope your prediction comes true, KCC vs. Buckhorn would also be to the wire IMO. As for the Powell and Hazard games, I think they could handle their opponents. Looks good, can't wait to find out for sure!

The draw will be very interesting. Winners : KCC Hazard Breathitt Powell Runners-up : JBS Buckhorn Wolfe Owsley Is the draw at 2:30 & where?
-
Good win for Knott! way to win the district. IMO Knott is the better team and has had JBS down by double digits in the fourth quarter in the last two meetings, but they just couldnt hang on. With JBS being a runner-up, I have to say that they will be the worst draw for any team, with Wolfe being the best. The regional tourney should be great this year, who knows who will come out on top.

Estill County 50 Powell County 46
bballer1 replied to The Professor's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Good win for Estill, Powell led the entire game, but missed free throws and a few bad looks at the basket got Powell in a tight spot. Good win Neers, good luck to both teams at region! Congrats to Tharpe for reaching the 1000 point mark during the game!!! -
This is very true! I also have to put KCC right there with them, if they lose to JBS. Both KCC and Buckhorn are dangerous, especially in March. Watch out for these two teams in the 14th. If Powell beats Owsley then Owsley could possibly give some nightmares in the regional tourney as well, they have been playing great basketball as of late. Wolfe is hands down the best draw. For the other 7 teams, who knows who will win it:confused:

Player of the year in the 14th region
bballer1 replied to King of The Hardwood's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hicks and Romans are probably the front-runners for this award. I would have to give the slight edge to Romans on his team impact, but Hicks has phenomenal numbers to back himself up. Romans although is averaging somewhere around 18 pts. and 13 reb. per game and has helped lead his team to the district championship game. If Powell makes a run in the region I would give it to Romans, hands down. Romans or Hicks deserve this award. -
Hate to see coach Wright go. I hope he reconsiders, he has a very solid team of underclassmen coming up that could do some damage. Coach Wright is a wonderful coach and a great person. Good luck with your decision coach, hope you stay!

40th District Championship:GRC v Montgomery Co
bballer1 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Montgomery is a very solid team, but they can't handle the Clark co. Offense. I'll take GRC by 7. -
I like Hazard in this one. Buckhorn is playing well, but PCC IMO had a terrible shooting night and all-around game. Hicks will be ready for da Horn. Hazard by 9.

Powell County 80 Estill County 78
bballer1 replied to The Professor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
They won't be overlooked. IMO Owsley has everyone's respect from around the region. I just can't see them pulling back-to-back upsets. It will be hard for Owsley to contain Romans downlow. I like Powell in this one. -
Now that all 8 teams are decided for the regional tourney, who is your favorite? Rank the final 8. 1)Buckhorn 2)Powell 3)JBS 4)Hazard 5)Breathitt 6)KCC 7)Owsley 8)Wolfe District Champ predictions: Powell, KCC, Breathitt, & Buckhorn

I can't begin to think that Owsley has the best coach, when Coach Lively of Powell won the Coach of the year honor at Jackson last season. Powell also tied for the regular season with Lee co. at 5-1, whom lost to Owsley in the first round. Powell has beat Owsley by a total of 54 points in the previous two meetings and i don't see them beating Powell on Saturday. Good win Powell, goodluck at region! :walk: -

I don't see Buckhorn winning the region. They are a very solid team but surely not the favorite...at this point there's really No favorite. The 14th has been wild this year, probably wilder than any other past year. It's gonna be a great regional tourney, can't wait!!
