Now this is coming from a Cumberland fan! So understand I may have some facts wrong. I believe that Corbin is not the Corbin of old but here is the reason why. Point one: I think everyone would agree that Two A football is way down and Corbin is not in the top 5. Point Two:Now in the days of old in the early 80's and pretty much the whole 70's Corbin dominated teams! It didn't matter where they came from! Bring everyone on and they won. Now Corbin teams are getting beat, sometimes starting 0-5 and then winning the district! I think everyone would agree that thier district is way down! Point Three: When was the last time Corbin won a state championship? If that is what you measure great teams with! Point Four: This one is a rumor so take it as that and nothing more but some Corbin kids are playing for other schools such as LC, SL. Again point four is a rumor so it may not be valid. I think Corbin football has not change but all of the other programs have so in short Corbin is a pretty good 2A football School but is not the Corbin of old. P.S. At least you guys get a district championship every year, my team has not saw one in many!

I guess I was misinformed! I was not being sarcastic, sorry about that! I just thought Whitley was a great football school!

Whitley Co. has one of the best programs in the mountains hands down! Are they not in the playoffs every single year? Do they not win their district three out of every four years? Mike Campbell did a great job developing that program!

They have played a great schedule and it will pay off for them! With another second place finish behind my skins! Also, I believe it is embarrassing that Whitley would play Lynn Camp! Whitley has nothing to gain from this! If they lose it is a great upset and if they win well they are supposed to win, they are a four A school. I am shocked that they have not done better this season! With saying all of that I am pulling for the Camp as I am for the Burg because they are both in my district!

well this game is going to be great! One team loves to hit and run the ball while the other team uses a gimmic offense! I will pull for the Jackets because it is non-district game.:sleep: I just believe that in the offense the 'burg runs it makes them passive when it comes to hitting. It is a pretty offense, but as we say up in the mountains, it does not have much meat and potatos. Especially, when Williamsburg always seems to lay down! I think that we have to much speed for Harlan! However, Harlan always has been a team that can hit with anyone. I think Cumberland 26 Harlan 21

Honestly, I don't get many years to run my mouth in fact this is might be my last year but I think my team should be considered at least for having a shot for the title. Vol Fan, if you are a Williamsburg fan you know that we have a had great teams in the past, enough to beat you for sub districts. Lynn Camp fans should know historically they have not done that well in the district. Harlan fans can say that their program is consistant. Pineville Fans can remember the 80's. This is how our district is and it is sad to see it go to the way side.

Who Cares? Williamsburg was a one hit wonder a few years ago! They apparently think they have a running game with this Root kid, who was their center, and this Frazier kid seems to lack the decision making, but has a pretty good arm. Also to make Williamsburg's offense go you must have at least two receivers, right now they have half of one, or at least that is what I saw at the Knox game. Mccreary is a team that has never really developed and since their not in my district, I do not know much about them . So in a close one MCC. 28 WHS.31

:lol: Well now I see that Lynn Camp is the tradition power. The point that I was making is that as bad as I hate both Sommerset and 'Burg always have teams that are in the mix of things! Those two are the powers in District 7, except for this year!:fire: I think that it is sad that a Lynn Camp can not win a district title even with a better team, for example last year. I know that if we had a kid that went to Division One Football, you would think that you could win a simple district like ours. How many district titles has Lynn Camp won? How many in the last ten years? :laugh: Now for the fact that they have a large enrollment for single A is a true one and yet one shot at a region title? I hate to say it but that is kinda sad!

I am sorry that my tam does not get to play I think Talyor County to see if they go to the playoffs. We actually got to play Williamsburg, Sommerset, Lynn Camp and Harlan all of which I would put up against Corbin's District! I think that in the area that Williamsburg is the only school in the area that can talk about football since the turn of 2000. Corbin, I think plays in a weak district and Whitley Co. can win against a two or three A school sometimes but can hardly win, when they face a team with similar talent. With all of that being said. I believe that Cumberland will surprise alot of people this year. Including the 'burg!

:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: I thought that Williamsburg's offense came from that Woods guy! Not Black, I also think that the coaching staff at Williamsburg is one of the best in state! Doesn't Whitley play people like Lynn Camp! How many schools does Whitley play that is twice there size. I am no Williamsburg fan at all but I respect their coaches. I again think that Williamsburg's schedule is just fine, their coaches are great, but they will not beat my skins!!!:fire:

I think anyone in southeastern kentucky can win a title but if I had to bet I would bet on the single or double AA, to win because there is no where near the competition as there is in 4a. I do not think that it is possible for a 4 even a three A to win in that area! Whitley Co. stands a great shot of winning 7 games a year, and they play Lynn Camp, a 2A school so I question their strength of schedule. I believe for Whitley to win a state title they would have to deconsolidate and be two two A schools which I hear is a possibility.

If the rumors are true, Coach Black the best of luck to you! However, if he wanted to win state or even come close, I would have to agree with LC99!!! Single A is an easier road then 4A! That is just a fact, however, people in that area don't care about state titles, that is only for the good schools!!!:fight: So therefore I think the expectations will be low for Coach Black to do well! I think expectations at his former location where higher! Williamsburg has always seemed to be a football school, well as long as I remember!! Any news on who Williamsburg's next coach will be? I think who ever it will be will be surprised at how difficult it is in district 7!!!

I will tell you this much watch out for Cumberland in district 7! I think that everyone is down enough and I think that we have the possiblity having one of the best athletic groups that has came through in while! I don't want to name kids but look for an offensive explosion!!!

I think that Jim Black would stay. According to another site, he would have to be offered something called "Deaton Money", I presume that is a lot! At any rate, from what I know of the man, which is to say not much, he is very smart and from what I understand was not treated to kindly at the last interview, again, this is reading from threads, so do not take my word on it! I would think that he would not go there because of his character! Again, I say this with a grain of salt, just simply because I do not know enough of him or his situation

Just talked to my friend from the area about election results etc. and he said that there was a for sale sign out in Gentry's yard. I think that the job at Whitley would be a difficult one at best, simply because it plays in 4 A, and to get outside of the region is extremely tough, they might win a district here or there, but when region or state is highly unlikely. So I would not want to coach there, just because of that fact, St. X and Trinity. But if Whitley would go to a three A then I think it would be a great job, because at that point they would have numbers. Also is it true that the sup. put an ad in the paper saying Gentry would stay, what is to make of that? Does he not control that school, just curious, would someone please respond, thanks...

I want a new sports facility for my old high school. How do you get funding like this? Do I need to ask my state representitive, this is great, people do not need new computers in the classroom, what would that accomplish, why spend money in the academic areas, let's build a $300,000 new community center. That will serve the people well, instead of using it on technology, renovating old schools, that could not serve the people well. Final, serious question, has anyone been down south where, 80% or higher of people are unemployed, could not money been used to help with this situation? Instead let's play football

I have heard that the superintendent does not want to get embarressed over this. I am in the camp that Coach Jim Black should have gotten the job because he has I think a 4-1 record against my team, I am curious now, would he go to Whitley? I hope that he doesn't because the skins are going to take the district title this year, and I would love to get a win over him!!!

I read somewhere that it could Jim Black, or one of his staff, I can not remember. Either way I would be glad to get these guys out Cumberland's district.
