  1. Who are these talented 9th graders and top talent enrolling at catholic?
  2. Chicago Simeon might be one and Boyd out of Ft Lauderdale may be another. Bryan Station may be close. Holmes is definitely a very good team! ought to be a good game!
  3. As a parent I think you would want to put your kid in the best possible environment to develop. I have heard that other states (Florida comes to mind) that allows the kids to choose the school they want to attend. I think that would (if overseen correctly) would improve all programs. The schools who do not perform well due to lack of attention and support would not be well attended for extra curricular activities. This would put pressure on the admin to choose program leaders that will develop and lead. currently there are schools in Ky that definitely are not adequately satisfying there districts needs. sorry to the moderator for getting a little off subject, but it really bothers me when schools with large populations have way less than average programs. That is why schools like Mason, Scott Co, Lex Catholic continue to thrive in Ky Athletics. (If I left your school out I'm sorry, there are many others that put effort and committment into there programs as well but could not mention all of them.)
  4. "The block call on Combs could have went either way. " Sorry I mis-understood this part of your comment. I thought your were saying it may not have been a foul to begin with. Actually from Stations side it was a good foul. It saved 2 pts, (the kid missed both freethrows) However, the tech came after the taunting (both tech freethrows made). The same situation happened in the Dunbar game. (Only Combs shots was blocked and he taunted the player who blocked it.) Sorry if I seemed sensitive, I wanted to give a different point of view. Maybe not accurate, but a different point of view. From a basketball purist standpoint the foul was good, prevented any attempt for 3 point play.... Just happened to read Mike Fields blog and saw the pic.... No offense intended.
  5. Go to link and Look at pic 2 of 8, charging ?????? http://www.heraldleaderphoto.com/category/sports/high-school/
  6. "The County" will be good next year, possibly dominant if they put the 6'8 and 6'4 kids on the block. Meyers will be one of the most outstandings players in the region. But the coach has to change their offense.
  7. Stewart is going to Air Force and Smart is a preferred walk on at Vandy
  8. Schedule below: 11:30 AM Lexington Catholic (Girls) versus Washington (South Bend, IN) 1:00 PM Pleasure Ridge Park versus Cherokee (Atlanta, GA) 2:30 PM Manual versus Calvary Baptist 4:30 PM Corbin versus Largo (Washington, D.C.) 6:00 PM Lexington Catholic (Boys) versus Modesto Christian (Modesto, CA) 7:30 PM Mason County versus Centennial (Roswell, GA) 9:00 PM Moss Point vs. Rose Hill Academy
  9. "County" will be a force come tourney time. 4 of their starters have played with teams through the years that have put them in the right situations to understand how to compete. I look for the leadership of Barrett Meyers to come through and lead them with a strong finish. They have one problem technically, a 6'8" person that does not play alot on the block. IMO when/if they make that adjustment it will definitely allow them to compete/win games with stronger opponents.
  10. I'm more impressed with Mason's win over Bryan Station than a close loss to Rice. Bryan Station is a very good High School team. :thumb:
  11. IMO Barrett Meyer from Franklin Co should have also been included on the all Tourney team. (I'm sure there are a few others Tate Cox JBS, #24 for Barren Co etc. as well.) Saw alot of quality players during the Tourney, it will be fun to follow these teams and kids through the rest of the year.
  12. Mason Co is still a favorite to win the State Tourney. Not only are they a great team, their kids are nothing but class. The rematch at Memorial Coliseum will be worth the price of admission for sure.
  13. My understanding is that Lex Cath had travel problems as well returning from Las Vegas on the 21st. Flew out of Vegas at 6:00a to Chicago, connecting flight to Lexington was cancelled, (slept on the floor at O'Hare) they had to wait for a bus that arrived in Chicago at midnight, finally arrived home 7:30a next morning. But the difference was probably the cake walk they had:D
  14. 1st of all I'm sorry that yor starting guard was injured during the game. I hope he recovers quickly to finish his Sr yr. You should win your region.... But I don't think with him you could have stopped D Miller inside on the block in the 2nd half. On a neutral court, I don't think you beat many top 20 teams (means that you win some:lol:).... Your devotion to CCHS is duly noted:p Do agree that Mason on paper should be the favored by 12+. Have a nice day;)
  15. The nicest gym in the state is Marshall Co. If you want to experience the nicest high school gym visit sometime. I'm not from there, but went to the Hoopfest, wow, awesome experience. The ribeye sandwichs were great. about the game, Miller changed the game in the 2nd half by posting on the block, Cov Cath could not stop him.
  16. 7:00p. there will not be a consolation game, it was cancelled
  17. Hoopfest is awesome, but it is a showcase not a tournament. It is one of the best showcases and venues in the country!
  18. Day 1 Dixie Hts Boyle Clay Co Simon Kenton Elliott Desales Franklin Co LCA Semis Paintsville Lex Cath Cov Cath Mason Finals Lex Cath vs Mason Mason 170pts
  19. Thanks for the correction. I was going from memory off the scores posted by number on the score boards at Marshall Co.
