I would go ahead and apply. You would have some similiarities on your resume, plus you could edit the sports page before it was printed.

Gray's nephew received a lot of negative post on KP because his uncle was the coach, but I did hear that Gray wants to go back to the grade school level and coach.

Sorry, but if you have a daughter playing then the girls games would be more appealing. It' s the perspective you are looking from. Everyone understands that the boys and girls play different styles of ball.

Step is coached by his family, why would he leave. He can shoot the ball whenever he wants.

Why doesn't the principal take the job? He played basketball. I think he may have a shot at keeping the AD happy.

There seems to be some confusion. I was under the impression that Hoskins ended up a Georgetown.

At the state tournament, they seemed to spell true team with an "I". Last year they were a true team, this year they were a my team. How could you be in the running for Mr. Basketball and not have your name mentioned? Allen is a class act, but not the best player in the state IMO and the opinion of others. There are a lot of young players in the mountains that are as good as the seniors. Stepp, Cox (8th), Crawford. I won't have to contact you when this young players are seniors, because there abilities will speak for themselves. The difference or determining factor seems to be that SL received more exposure due to winning the sweet 16th, which gave Allen the spotlight around the state. Allen is Mr. Basketball regardless of what gets posted and is a positive role model, but not the same type of Mr. Basketball from past years. I'm sorry if that offends you.

The younger players aren't in the running for Mr. Basketball, you are right. I'm not whining, just stating a fact. If Mr. Basketball was able to play for a division 1 school, wouldn't you assume that player has more talent? It is for a senior player, correct? I didn't demean his role on the team. If I did demean his role, then didn't you do the same with your statements. Answer this question, without Profitt would the cardinals be the same quality team.

The qualifications for Mr. Basketball has dropped off in the last few years, since Lofton. Although, Allen is a good person, he was the third best player on his team behind Profitt and Hammons. Smith at Harlan was probably one of the best all around talents, in the 13th before he was injured IMO. Crawford, a freshman, was a better player than Allen. Jones at Clay was also better. Slaughter or Owens IMO should have been Mr. Basketball, if you were going by the old standards for selecting the best player! Mr. Basketball should be a division 1 player.

So, I guess the phrase "butter fingers" originated in Fleming!! :banana: Messer was a great young coach, I guess some people can't stand prosperity, because of their own ego. :thumb:

It does take a majority if you choose to go that way. but the the chair (a principal or another administrator), can choose someone they prefer, which actually makes the SBDM council worthless. IMO The superintendent can initially scan the applicants before submitting to the chair and council. If the chair ask for a certain applicant and does not receive it as part of the first five applications, the council can ask for more applications and the one they ask for has to be included. The rest of what you wrote was basically what I said. It is a process that when you break it down is as broad as it is long.

My statement applies to all situations in general, not only to this one. I feel no more passion for this situation than any other. Just stating a fact that stands true across the state. A principal is the head supervisor of the building, but needs a good staff to help run the school:administration 101.

The SBDM council votes it's a majority (check out the KDE website). The SBDM can have a chair other than the school principal if the need arises. The principal or chair may choose to believe they have the final choice, but the recommendation is made to the superintendent. Who can approve or reject. As far as not getting the principal involved was never the point. I think the consensus was not to leave it only to the principal. No man is an island unto himself. If you want to watch a school go down hill, let a principal lose the respect of the school. It takes everyone within a school to nake it run efficiently.
