If Newport wins District they could get a good Region draw, possibly sneak into the finals. -

Did anyone else tire of listening to Collinsworth in that game? I am usually okay with his commentary but he was completely biased and sounding so matter of fact in saying they should overturn that huge Eagle TD by the TE. It was irresponsible if you ask me. -

Heard the Birds cut it to 5 late in the 3rd but ran out of gas. -
Birds JV pull out a home victory over the Camels in OT. Heard Hunter Ahlfeld scored a bunch for the Bluebirds. Varsity game up next.

The Breds when at full strength can be a very good team and knock off most teams ranked 3-10. Can they be a sleeper and catch a Cooper or CovCath on one of their bad shooting nights? Yes, especially if they continue to get good guard play out of Hall and Posey. Luken is also an X factor as he battles and can be very effective for the Breds. They press well which IMO is one of their biggest strengths. A solid win for the Breds for sure and not a bad loss for Scott. -

Stats are available on Riherds....all you gotta do is read those and I have seen them play 2 games which is really all I needed to see to be quite honest. You would be surprised how reliable my source is...but I wont divulge. -

I don't believe he went to St Anthony. He grew up on the Eastside of Newport and was friends with my Dad who also lived on same street (Park Ave maybe) as grade schoolers. I think the A might stand for the old St Anne's that used to sit up on the hill and was torn down for the Newport Pavillion development. -

Big loss for Birds and very nice addition for the Breds. He frees up Hall to score from the wing and not have to run the point. How about Hall with ice in his veins. Got the home bounce!!! -

Brings up a good point, my son attended one yr and dropped out. He learned a trade and is now earning a very nice hourly wage at 23 with no student loan debt. His goal is to eventually run his own business. He learns more listening to podcasts 4-5 hours daily while working his trade than he said he would probably ever learn sitting in college classes. IMO unless you are in college for a specific profession and coupling the class sessions with Co-Op experience you are wasting your money. I know guys in sales who never attended college and have pulled down 6 figures for the past 15-20 yrs. The cost of college has become pathetic and the student loan fiasco us even worse. They give em to anybody and everybody. -

My first year at NKU 89/90 my tuition was $575 a semester I believe. So roughly $1,200 a yr. My daughter will graduate from there this spring and its around $9-10k a yr. She gets scholarship help and gas only accumulated $15k in student loans over 5 yrs so to me that is nothing as far as debt. Being in the mortgage business and working with a ton of 1st time home buyers I am amazed at the amount of student loan debt people accumulate. 25 yr old with $50k-$80k in student loan debt making $40k a yr. I had a young guy who was 30 making $100k at GE but he had $125k in student loan debt. He was paying $964/month ....that is a freaking house payment!!!! -

Not that these 3 kids would have changed the outcome of this game but Salter, Huddy and Posey not on the Highlands roster hurts no matter how you look at it. These are 3 kids with National AAU experience over the years vs a group of kids out there now who literally pick the ball up in October when hoops starts. Outside of Freshman Sam Vinson (Gametime?) and Junior's Ryan Leigh/Ben Sisson who both might play in some spotty AAU tournaments for Omega I'm not sure I can name another kid who does play AAU in the off-season. Nate Roberts I believe may have filled in for Tricia Macke's Royals squad as a backup player but that is it. Spencer Macke obviously has but he's been relegated to strictly JV this season due to the transfer. Zero Seniors play AAU in the off-season from my understanding. A few of the freshman I believe play on Trevor Barth's team with Vinson and they usually compete well in statewide tournaments. Meanwhile you have Walter, Fredrick, Davin, Ruthsatz, Fleek, Thelen and Deer all playing highly competitive AAU in off-season. Throw in the Mayer brothers who are both Div 1 athletes and its a recipe for a State Championship caliber team. -

CJ is turning it on and only taking 14 shots a game on avg. That should increase IMO if the Colonels want to win Region. They need to go to their cowbell. -
Not much energy out there on the floor last night outside of Richards in the 1st half. Add the fact that Cal was sick on the bench when he is normally up screaming.
