holding back is good for some & adds physically and mentally but doesnt add any more basketball talent that is already present. middle school success doesnt necessarily mean success as a sophomore in high school. As a senior it may help when they are 19 playing against many 15, 16 & 17 year olds.

Has anyone else hear anyone say that there will be a really small crowd for the jackson city vs lee game. I was thinking about going until i heard that someone said the firemarshall was going to turn away everyone past capacity. I think it only seats about 250. I think either was these school could potentially bring twice this ###. Someone said they are selling presale tickets so this game wont be seen live by many people. I think this is a problem with the all "A". breathitt could hold thousands but jc was drawn so fans will have to suffer. IMO. Anyone else heard this?? i dont know if its worth the risk to go now or not??

How did Hazard look??

I've heard that this gym only seats about 250 or 300 people. Will this hold all the fans that will attend this game??? I've been to the gym & its set up like an elementary gym. teams on one side & only one tier of bleachers. I dont know if one of the biggest games in the All A should be held in a gym of this size?? IMO there will be hundreds of fans turned away at the door. It will remind me of the regional tourny in Hazard!!

Coach Hall is extremely good but this group isn't as good as advertise. They won in middle school but most have been held back so they were a year older than most other middle school players. And many schools do not even attend the middle school state tourny. They are good but not as good as they have been hyped. Just my opinion!!!

Lee hasnt played great of late. sub par performance @ powell fri & loss to a down KCC team that was beaten pretty good by Jackson City. Lee must rebound from these types of performances to get past a very scrappy & talented JC.

It is not conceited to support your school but in most posts concerning 14th region teams or opinions most hazard and PCC fans disregard any other teams or opinions. They are both consistently good teams but there are other teams in the 14th. Kentucky fans are optomistic but they dont always say "UK WILL WIN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT!!!" they know there are other good teams and they can get beat at any time in the tournament but Hazard fans are really really confident during tournament time!!! I wonder why this is?? The best team doesnt always win!!

Is it me or are many Hazard and Perry Central fans to most conceited bunch in the STATE!!! I mean everyone else should just quit wasting their time and play one game in February for the City/District/Regional/State Championship.. That would save a lot of time for the rest of us!! Roundleather is pretty close!! imagine that bracket playing out! Lee Perry would be a HUGE Rd. 1 game & LCC vs Estill!! played out Leslie should win, I'll go with LCC, then JBS & Lee over PCC. RD 2: Leslie versus Letcher Central June Buchanan Versus Lee Co. There are arguments w/ some but what are the opinions and predictions if this were the final 4 in the 14th regional

I didnt see if but I would say that this game ranks up there as weirdest?? most tragic?? In the late 60's or early 70's (1972 maybe) when Powell played nationally ranked Louisville Shawnee. They won the game & made something like 70 of 99 free throws!! Talk about taking a game!!!!! Check out the KHSAA record books!! Powell is all over the most free throws game (99 leads & 2nd is like 66) and season. Talk about a home court advantage!!!!

I agree ARC, I had questions about June Buchanan's schedule. After Tuesday's win against PCC at PCC, it elevates them in my eyes as well. Good record + beat a good team = for real!! I would like to see June Buchanan play Lee and Leslie?? I think I remember them playing Lee last year so what happened with that pairing this year??

These games are unfortunate. I know the compassion in us but what about the teams that "HAVE" to play these types of teams. Teams are only allowed 25 or so scheduled games & this makes 2 games for Shelby Valley that they got "NOTHING" from!! Because of seeding many teams are "FORCED" to play these types of games!! It is hard for a program to #1 miss practice #2 stall for 30 minutes & get nothing "basketball wise" from the contest #3 Put players in that will not see minutes in the District or Regional Tourny #4 Lose 2 games against stiffer & more competitive teams. I see David School wanting in the KHSAA but I also see that doing this "FORCES" district teams to play them & LOSS 2 more meaningful and competitive games. If teams refuse to play them they will still lose 2 games b/c of seeding purposes!!

he said??? she said??? Here is what i've taken from this lengthy discussion!!! facts: 1. Lee is a solid team 2. Wright is an enthusiastic coach like it or not 3. Smith is back 4. Owsley will get better but must improve defensively 5. There is still friction between Lee & Owsley!!!

June Buchanan should be moving up. They have a really good record & many didnt know if they were real until Tuesday against Perry Central. Thats a quality win so I'll assume they're for real until otherwise.

I'd definitely take the points if this were the spread!! You must be from Hazard??? Lets say, Regional Championship & your big red machine is facing the Powell County Pirates in Stanton!!! This is the feeling MOST if not all of the teams that play Hazard or PCC in Hazard have?? If you dont know what i'm talking about ask any Bobcat fan, Breathitt county bobcat that is!!

I would think that you could ask for a ruling or question about it. They would give you a hypothetical answer. You then must make your decision. If that decision is put into question by your former school or I guess other schools, then the situation would be reviewed. In this case, You could possibly & probably be given the shaft.

Is it just me or is it really hard to understand how KHSAA rules on transfer/moving eligibility. I know KHSAA has guidelines but still it should be easier for everyone to understand. Like for instance the differences between: Cleve Washington-what really was the situation & what was the real ruling?? Chris Stamper-had to sit basketball @ wolfe, played in baseball district last march & is sitting now for basketball?? Robert Smith-moved to clay & back to owsley (probably closest situation to chris stampers) Eli Warren, Josh Riley-moved/transferred after seasons, i guess is why they are allowed to play. I've heard all the reasoning & know kind of the situations but I'm getting to the point that KHSAA doesnt seem to always be consistent in their rulings. I just wish that I would be able to take an educated guess about a player transferring & it be right instead of there having to be a "ruling"

Berryman and Dixon are a good 1-2 for Estill. Berryman has to be one of the top sleepers in the 14th. He's scored 25+ in the games i've seen.
