I talked to Coach Kinney at church today, he told me that 9 out of Somersets first 12 points came on 2nd chance points. The Warriors are going to have to start rebounding if they expect to win.

I wouldn't write off this years Southwestern basketball team just yet. Sure they are 0-4 but two of those losses were without Coach Schulz on the bench. And 3 out 4 of the losses were by 5 points or less. Somerset in my opinion is the best team in the Region and Southwestern played them pretty much even in the 2nd half. This team is made up of mostly juniors, a sophomore, a frehman, and two 8th graders who have very little varsity experience. So with time and maturity they will only get better as the year goes on. If you think this team will will go into the tank and just finish out the season, you don't know Coach Schulz very well.

good win for the raiders. I saw where Musgrove played. I am glad he is back. I figured these to be two of the better teams in the region behind Somerset.

This time of year, the more that plays the better. But come tournament time I think you should only play 8 at the most.

Dubar is a good basketball team. They would beat alot of freshman and JV squads by 80+ points. I would say that Dunbar could have pressed and beat this Frankfort team by 120 points if they wanted to run up the score. When you sign contracts you have to play or pay. With the financial crisis FHS has been through, a forfeit probably wasn't an option. Even if FHS had Fields and others back the outcome of this game would have been the same. I would say Dunbar could beat Frankfort by 40+ points when the panthers have everyone back on the hardwood.

McCreary looked good tonight. They are a scrappy team that plays hard. #11 the point guard is a nice player. Watts is the real deal. I hope the kid that hurt his ankle will be ok. I got there late, what happened in pregame? I heard a couple of different stories.

I would still put somerset #1. Bourne, Price & Wallen will provide the Sr. Leadership needed to carry the Briar Jumpers to a region title.

Thats exactly what I am saying. On paper PLD should lose. But there is always a chance. If Dunbar can keep it close in the 4th Quarter anything can happen. In fact if I bet on Henry Clay to win, it would increase PLD chances.

PLD has about as much of a chance of beating Henry Clay as App. State had against Michigan.

It will be hard to tell about the teams from these scrimmages. Alot of teams still have players on the Football field.

They played 20 minutes of running clock. Stopping it in the last minute. They cleared the score at the half. I got to see Casey, Southwestern, West Jess. and Pulaski play from the 12th Region. Out of those 4 teams I thought Pulaski looked the best. West got drilled by Dunbar in the first half, but played them a little closer in the 2nd half. Dunbar was by far and away the best team up there yeaterday. PC had three or 4 kids hit 3 pointers and put up 36 pionts in the first half against Middlesboro. PC won the half 36-33. Casey Co. played Pendleton Co. close in the 2nd half of their matchup. Southwestern won the first half against Madison Southern by 6 points. They got beat in the 2nd half by around 10. Coach Schulz played everyone in the 2nd half. At one time he had 3 freschman and 2 8th graders on the floor.

I am out of shape. This game has me winded , just from listening to it on the radio.

Wayne will return most of the players that played last year. They were playing well at the end of the season and should ride that momentum this year. They are always well coached and should be the favorite in the District. They will be a factor in the Region.
