I keep hearing rumors that Smith(whitley) and Ledington (Bell) have traded jobs. Anyone know anything about this?

I hear Jon Smith left Whitley Co. and took the Bell Co. job. Ledington is taking Smiths place at Whitley. Anyone know anything about this?

How does williamsburg fit into the picture this year with the addition of a new catcher and a couple of pretty good pitchers returning?

How about Pittman from middlesboro, Scalf from Knox, McCumbers from Whitley, Smith from Harlan, These guys have to be better than your 2 and 3.

There are a lot of 1A schools and 2A schools that no matter if they were classed or not would never be able to compete for a state title. The same can be said for 3A, 4A and so on. It all comes down to the number of atheletes in the school not the total enrollment. Take Pineville for example,1A, who could they have a chance at beating for a state title or even getting to the title game. Middlesboro, 2A, almost year in and year out are in the mix for making it to the state tournament. That community just has a lot of atheletes. not numbers. Knox Central is another example, 3A, they can't compete with the 3A schools in Lexington and Louisville. Leave it the way it is. That way the best team in the state, for that YEAR is the state champion regardless of the size of the school. If I was going to be called the state champ, I would not want an astrict beside it saying 1A, 2A, 3A,4A,(Roger Marris died never knowing) Iwould know that my team was the BEST in the STATE.

1st year at whitley Smith leads colonels to district championship and regional championship( first time in 37 years) to be ousted by Garmons Hounds. 2nd year at whitley Smith leads colonels past corbin in district( beat them for the first time in 26 years) lost district champ. to South Laurel which made it to State tournament. Once Smith wins that first big game that Whitley hasn't been able to get in years look for that program to be turned around more than Smith has already turned it around. He has redone that facility and in my opinion is as good as any in the state. I would love to play on it every day. Point: Garmon is one of the top Coaches in SE KY. Once Smith wins that BIG game, He will be considered more so than he is now. I think he played for one of the top Coaches in SE kY also, Billy Powell (middlesboro)

whitley lost 7 starters, they have some good young pitching that will have them in the running after this year if not by the end of this year.

why would he leave a head coaching position to be an asst? He should have gotten the jod there when Powell quit anyway.
