Coaches must also teach?

Recommended Posts

I heard a rumor that in order to coach a high school team in the 13th District that you must also be hired as a teacher. Has anyone heard about this? If this is true, what will it mean for schools like Williamsburg, Corbin, and Whitley who have coaches that are not in the classroom?

I believe you have to be connected to the school district in some capacity. I believe that more and more schools are going to strictly teachers.

I know of one school district that had a couple of coaches that were not teachers and were replaced last year.

Corbin has a couple of asst. football coaches who do not work for the school system, but I'm pretty sure that there is not a rule forbidding this.

Teachers are always preferred, but if there is not one qualified to Coach, or no one applies for the job, then outside candidates will be considered.

I did see something where they had to have a bachelors degree to be a head coach.
