The Sams kid had some control problems tonight. He walked several batters and seemed to be pretty frustrated. He throws hard, and Im sure hes lights out when he has his best stuff.

Final. This was a great ball game. Ryan Sams pitched for North Laurel and Troy Smith pitched for KCC. Smith threw an excellent game for KCC allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits. KCC made 3 errors in the first inning and 1 in the second inning that cost them 4 runs. The Patriots tried to fight back in the 6th and 7th, but came up a little short. As for North Laurel, they are very solid, and IMO the best team ive seen so far this year. They should be the team that comes out as 13th region champs at seasons end.

Congrats on the win Leslie. I dont see any pitcher in the 14th region this year being able to shutdown Leslies hitters. They can absolutely knock the cover off it. Clark Co must have pitched a stud to have held Leslie to only 2 runs.

I feel that one of the main problems, at least in eastern kentucky, is that some of the best athletes in schools are just not coming out for baseball. Most parents in the mountains get this big idea that their child is gonna be a big time basketball, or football star so they quit baseball after little league. Yet, how many D-1 basketball and football prospects are their this side of Louisville or Lexington? Very few. Ive seen many times where a kid who has alot of talent and is very good at baseball just gives it up so they can concentrate on basketball. Parents are going to have to start realizing that the potential to advance in baseball is much greater than in basketball or football and start encouraging their kids to play baseball.

PatDad, I dont know what kind of information you received about the game, but defense was not the problem last night. The defense looked very solid last night. If im not mistaken they only committed 1 error and that was on a play where the runner had already reached base safely. Hitting is what hurt the Pats last night and has hurt them for the last 3 or 4 games. They had men in scoring position several different times but could not come up with a key hit to drive someone in. All it would have took for KCC to win the game was 1-2 more hits. They need to get the bats going and they will soon.

It dont make sense, but thats how the voting turns out. Remember these polls are fan based so theirs probably gonna be some favortism towards whichever team they cheer for, but thats what makes the polls fun.

Yes this was a seeded game. Letcher Central is a solid ball club and is very well coached. They will make plenty of noise in the region this year. Knott did not hit the ball well at all tonight, but played very solid on defense and got a good pitching outing. If their bats can come alive they will be a force in the region as well.

The patriots had one of those bad news bears type games last night. KCC just isnt good enough to beat a team of Leslie's caliber right now, but should be able to by the end of the season. Leslie is one of the best hitting teams I have seen in years. 1-9 can all crush the baseball. What do they put in the water over in Hyden?:thumb:

This is surprisng. How is this going to effect other teams schedules? Will the teams left in the tourney have to cancel their games that were orginally scheduled for tomorrow and Tuesday?
