Oh please. So, we should tell the second and third group of kids to not play. Don't shoot, don't play defense, let's let them score so we don't run up the score. It would be different if he played his starters all game, but the reserves scored 3/4 of the points, and they deserved those minutes tonight. Sometimes you just can't win...

Setty and Middleton, Middleton especially didn't play much tonight at all. I'd say about 10-12 minutes, if that, and they didn't need to. It was great to see the young kids, and then the even younger kids, get in the game and score the way they did. Mason County has a really bright future.

Congrats to a fine young ball player. Anyone know if she plans to play at the next level, and if so, where has she been offered?

Congrats to the Lady Saints. This team was very special, and I think they will be for several more years to come. I was pretty close in the predictions thread. I had them winning by 15. I just knew if they came out ready like they did against Mason then there was no chance. Good luck to both teams in the region. Represent the 39th well! Hopefully they can both stay away from that 40th district!

Congrats to Elliott. Sounds like they deserved it, especially since they've been seen as the underdog all year. It would be awesome if they could make a run at the regional title, as well. You never know what can happen at this time of the year.

Both teams will definitely be a tough out in the 10th region tournament, and could very well meet again in the finals.

I think he was referring to why she never got 10th region coach of the year.

Any of these teams can make a run in region barring that they stay away from the 40th district. Both the winner and loser of this district are tough outs.

St. Pat is capable of making some noise, as well. They are 19-5, and gave Clark County a run for their money when they played.

I think Butcher will change Mason's reputation for running up the score, but it's still too fresh on people's minds, being his first year. He seems like a great coach, and Mason hasn't won big this year except when they played Augusta, and he did a great job of giving his bench their time to shine. Butcher will turn their program around.

I also heard that Clark County might be going out of the 10th as well. If there is truth to this, then how long will it take for them to work this out and for it to actually happen?

Clark County is obviously the better team, but when it comes to rivalry games like this, anything can happen.

If you follow Mason County, then you will know that statement is correct. Megan Reese tore her ACL the first time when playing against Pendleton County, and they were up by 50+ points late in the second half, and the starters were in, including her. Then she got hurt, and there was no excuse for it. That's just one example of my statement, there are many others.

I can't believe you're going to defend Mason clearing the bench. Yes, they cleared the bench early, but if you recall in past years, Mason would have a 50 point lead and leave their starters in until less than a minute left in the game. But also, Douglas went deep into her bench in the second half. No, she didn't play all of her players until late, but she did go deeper than Mason County. Just look at the bench points like someone else pointed out. Mason can dish out the big blow out wins, but they can't seem to take one themselves, and then everyone gets mad about someone running up the score on them. Go to the scoreboard and look at the last several year's stats of Mason vs. St. Pat and see what that looks like.

I think she was returning the favor to Mason County. You know that Mason County has delivered it's share of beatings to St. Pat over the last 5 years. I'm not saying it's right, but I think she was just returning the favor.

What a great game! Clarke played excellent and really stepped up in the overtimes to take over the scoring load while Mason fouled out. It seemed like the refs called silly touch fouls all night on both teams. They didn't seem to let the boys play at all.

I don't see them doing that if St. Pat plays like they did tonight. And I was at the game, so I know how it turned out. Who knows, maybe tomorrow will be the same. Day in and day out teams play differently, and Mason County didn't bring it tonight, and they paid for it. Good luck to both teams tomorrow.

Wow. One would think that to be a very unlikely outcome, because the player has to do so much. Congrats to Deming on the win, especially without Carmack.

It was close after the first quarter, and then the Lady Saints took a 14 point lead in at half time. It was all St. Pat the second half, and it looked like Mason gave up. Congrats Lady Saints...it was a great team effort. #22 (One of the Payne twins) did a great job on Menke. She had 8 at the half, and only 2 in the second quarter, when St. Pat extended their lead. She did score around 20 or so, but most of those came late in the second half when the game was out of reach. Congrats on a great season, Mason. You exceeded many expectations, and I only see a brighter future ahead for these young ladies.

If St. Pat wins tonight, I'd say they should be strong contenders, as well as Clark County and maybe even Campbell. Montgomery appears to be way out ahead of the rest, though.

What's that supposed to mean? By saying this would be the best game, I mean that there is so much going on in this game. There has always been such a rivalry between the schools, and usually Mason just blows them out of the gym, but now St. Pat has the team to compete. The championship game will be great as well, I just don't think it brings the hype that this game brings.
