  1. I don't think that they have enough of a surplus to trade for an impact bat so I'd say that B is the best option. They could probably pick up a Willingham or Morales for some low level prospects. Hope you catch lightning in a bottle for a couple of months and get into the playoffs with a healthy Phillips and Votto.
  2. 2 or 3 of the speeders mentioned in the article were officers from counties other than Fayette. They were speeding in the construction zone in Fayette County. I'd say it is safe to assume that they weren't responding to a call.
  3. Don't forget the Boom Chicka cheer after a victory.
  4. I know Steady Eddie Taubensee was touted as being part of the Emanski program but are you talking about a player that came up with the Reds?
  5. So how is he different from Billie Jean King, Robin Roberts and Mark Bingham? They were all previous gay winners of the award. You can throw Pat Summit in there as well although she hasn't ever come out.
  6. So you can't understand why it took courage and then saying that you understand that it took courage in the same post. That tells me all I need to know about you. They aren't saying that being homosexual is to be celebrated. They're saying that they are homosexual, and that they are not ashamed of being born that way. They don't celebrated, they'd rather be treated like everyone else. They only celebrate their "pride" and have parades to demonstrate that they are people too and they want to be treated equally. When everyone decides to do that and quit judging, firing, beating, killing and mocking gay people and just let them live like everyone else you'll see the end of the parades. I think I said that you and I aren't to judge anyone's sins. I just said what I read in my Bible studies--that no sin is greater than any other. Do you have any original thoughts or do they all come from the persecuted Christian sites?
  7. It usually isn't too hard to proclaim that you are part of the 90%+ majority. I may be wrong but I don't remember many people being imprisoned, ridiculed or even killed simply because they are straight. Have you ever been a part of even a high school football locker room? If so, how would your locker room have treated someone who said that they were gay? If they were treated the same as heterosexuals across the board then you wouldn't hear gay people asking for equal rights. The fact is they are not treated the same everywhere. For an All-SEC player to step out and proclaim he is gay took a lot of courage. A lot of people would have (at best) reacted like you did. Most would have been worse. I'm not hear to judge gay or straight people. I've been divorced and remarried. From what I've read in the Bible, my sins are no worse nor no less than his are. I'm not proud of the path that I took to get where I'm at, I've made my share of mistakes. I'm just glad that I'm here.
  8. I understand their point about having multiple agencies issuing IDs in Kentucky. For example, my wife went to get her address changed on her license in Fayette County last month. She had to have (I believe) 2 different pieces of mail showing her name at the new address. This year when she moved to Somerset with me we went to the Pulaski County Court house to get her address changed there and they simply asked what the new address was. Now the lady working the counter knew me and I was there so she probably didn't have any reason to think we were getting an ID with a fake address on it. However, she could have been doing exactly that for any number of reasons. By having a protocol for issuing the ID I would think that their minimum standards for verifying your information would be followed. That being said I don't think anything should change as far as when you are, and aren't, required to present your ID to the authorities.
  9. I think the way he treated baseball not just as a living, but as a way of life was one of his best qualities. For him to grind out all of those hits while constantly adapting by playing multiple positions over his career shows just how hard he worked at his craft. He just seemed like he genuinely loved the game and I'm sure he'd still be involved somehow if he were allowed to be. I know he had a lot of negative traits in his personal life but the way he worked at the game of baseball is something that all players should try to emulate.
  10. I don't have an issue with him throwing a fastball down the middle for Jeter to get a good swing on. It was still a big league fastball, it isn't like he threw it in there at 75 mph or told him it was coming. He should have kept quiet about it though. I do think too much is being made about it though. It isn't a big deal.
  11. I don't have a problem with it for the locations that they have listed--as long as we only have to provide it when entering those locations or are being lawfully detained. The authorities should not be able to demand ID unless you are suspected of a crime or in a situation that demands proof of age.
  12. Now you've done it. You've jinxed the Reds. When they go 3-10 out of the break it's on you.
  13. Although it won't help the Red Sox out like last season I'm still glad to see the AL get home field advantage for the World Series. Great tributes to Jeter before and during the game. He's a class act.
  14. He won't actually turn 23 until next month. Probably the best all around player in the game--if not he's darn close.
  15. He was the face of baseball during his generation. 3408 hits, Rookie of the Year Award, 14 All Star Games, a World Series MVP and 5 World Series Rings--I'd say he deserves it. And I'm a Red Sox fan.
  16. Very cool commercial. I liked the Red Sox fans giving in and tipping their caps. He was a great opponent over the years. Farrell said he's planning on making the switch during a defensive inning to give him a chance to get the ovation that he deserves. Also I think that had something to do with the decision to lead him off. He'll get a long ovation then too.
  17. It wasn't too long ago that the majority of this board considered Cingrani untouchable.
  18. Yes, it was Pedroia. He has 462 BBC and 455 Ks.
  19. Could have his avatar featured in a safe sex commercial.
  20. Not Victor Martinez. He has 544 BBs and 614 Ks.
  21. Joe Mauer has 650 BBs and 628 Ks--but with 64 Ks and 34 BBs this season he might not be on this list by the end of the year.
  22. Albert Pujols is correct: 1092 BBs, 874 Ks. Miguel Cabrera is not: 834 BBs, 1257 Ks.
