  1. Looks like East is the team to beat in the 62nd. Not a surprise. I'm glad there is an EKC tournament again. I missed it... even though my team isn't a member anymore. Congrats East.
  2. Is this game being played as a remnant of the old EKC tournament?
  3. Somebody said it it another thread. I don't think the poster was actually an Elliott follower--just an Elliott supporter (there's a big difference). Every team has some over enthusiastic fans who spout off. Rational thinking people know and understand that this is not last year's team. In fact almost no schools have "last year's team." This year's team will be fine though.
  4. Um.... I thought East handled the ball very well. They were quick and composed. With the starting PG in the lineup, then undoubtedly you would have added an even better backcourt.
  5. Okay, I see no point to your post other than to antagonize. Not necessary. I just don't like to lose to a rival team. I'll pick up the pieces and move on though. I'll be fine.
  6. That felt like a late January game. I liked it. I picked East by 7-10 points, so I am pleased. However, every time we lose to East a little piece of me dies inside Excellent game by the Raiders though. I imagine that they will lose very few games in the Region this year. Both teams were really fun to watch.
  7. Elliott will lose some fans. However, I can guarantee you that not ALL of them will jump off the band wagon. I didn't miss a game the 6 win season a few years ago. I won't miss many this season.
  8. I suspect that East will pull out a 7-10 point win. I really hope I am wrong--I don't like losing to the Raiders.
  9. Ironton probably had some kids out because of football. I know the game was moved up to 2:00 from 5:00 for that reason. Elliott looked tough though. I think Elliott will be competitive with everybody in the Region. Will lose some games, but I think they will be competitive.
  10. A somewhat different Elliott County team defeated Ironton, OH at the Jack Fultz preseason scrimmage at West Carter. Quarter scores were reset, so I may be a few points off on the final. Timmy Knipp had around 40, Nickell around 20, Ison 14, and Faulkner 15. Elliott was more physical and bigger than Ironton. Ironton was smaller and quicker than EC. Ironton may have out rebounded Elliott though--it was close. That will need to be worked on. Elliott shot the FT very well--in the 83% range. Overall, and excellent showing by EC. I hope it's a hint of things to come!
  11. Another thought.... I believe that this "hold back" situation has only recently become the norm (and not just in EK). I don't like it... but I think it is happening more frequently across the country.
  12. I'm not forgetting Menifee--and nobody else should either. They are capable. It's funny talking about the 16th region during the past few years. Who would have ever thought Morgan County, Elliott County, Russell, (and let's just throw Menifee in as a POSSIBLE contender next season) would have later Regional crowns that Ashland, Greenup, and Boyd. In any case, I don't really see a 16th region team making any noise in the state tournament next season. Here's hoping that I am wrong. I always root Elliott, then 62nd, then 16th, and then a Mountain school.
  13. I didn't say he was better--or even as good. Ferguson was no point guard. Nickell will handle the ball better than Ferguson.
  14. Did I say he was as "good as the Faulkner boys?" No I did not. I said he is one of the better to come through the school. One of the better does not even remotely imply "the best." It would have been hard for him to play at Rupp with a broken ankle, but had he been able, I think he would have done fine. If I remember correctly he played (and scored) in Elliott's first trip to Rupp (as an 8th grader). Like I said, I can't wait until November!
  15. At the CovCath team camp.. was the entire Elliott team there? I would have assumed that Cody Nickell would be running the point position. Knipp is no point guard. Nickell is one of the better ones to come through the school. I don't think there will be any problems in this position next season. Cody will need some support though. I can't wait until November!
