  1. This surprises me, I really felt comparing the 2 teams that Clark Co. was ready and that Mason Co. was a year away from going to Rupp. Sounded like a great game on the Web, isn't the Internet great. Just goes to show the young, up and coming players how important the free throws are in a game. When shooting less than 50% from the line you'll not win many games.
  2. Congratulations to BB for a fine season. ( What, this coming from my mouth), just kidding you BG,Striker and Mustang. You did have a great season, just felt kids needed a little boost or motivation to take down MC. I like to see some different representation of the region from time to time. They'll be fine next year, but the 10th is really going to be tough at the top, MC, Clark and BB will battle it out again next year.
  3. Based upon what I have seen of both Clark and Mason Co respectively I'll have to go with Clark Co. At this point I really do feel that they have the best personel right now. Should be a dandy, I'll say Clark Co. by 10+. The best match up of the night could be Jones vs. Turner.
  4. I feel that this game was one of the most intense one's that I have seen in quite some time, the best team won last night. Coach Humphrey had a simple game plan, continue to at every stoppage run in players. He must have gone eight deep on the bench, this gave him the opportunity to continually put alot of pressure on the ball at all times regardless of the fouls. He was able to give his main 5 alot of rest throughout the game, yet play them when it was critical. I have not seen a team sub that much since probably 5-6 yrs. ago with UK when they had such a deep bench. It's not that the Clark bench was much of a scoring threat, but they could afford to give up the fouls. And by going so strong at PC they created alot of pressure fouls. Also, Clark crashed the boards very strong last night. They absolutely controlled their offensive area. PC had their op's but failed to capitalize on the moment. I thought when PC tied the game that they would be OK, but, that's when Knowles took control and the PC boys did not necessarily make some good decisions with the ball and their shots. Some were forced and probably not the best shots that Coach Biggs had in mind. I have one ?, just because I could not really see the play, On the opening tip when the ball went towards the Clark bench with a Clark player having possession, when the player appeared to fall out of bounds with the ball and there was no foul called, what was the call when the ball was given to Clark. Just a question not a complaint. Tonight's game shoud be a dandy!! In light of what I witnessed last night, I'll have to go with Clark Co. They are on a mission and playing very well right now. Regardless either one MC or CC will be a very good representative for the 10th and hopefully do us proud.
  5. GS, glad you edited the last comment about me. I thought it might be an offhanded compliment, but then I thought about Dickie V. and compared the reference. Geez, Dickie was a coach, had a team once but really had nothing or accomplished anything, yet he knows everything.
  6. I appreciate the story, but what's that have to do with my comment?
  7. As I sit here eating crow(which by the way is sometimes tasty, I'll go with Dixie. I have not been a big Dixie fan and yes I did not think that they would get by Holmes, but I was proven wrong and I'll admit it when I am. Have seen both teams a couple of times each, Dixie does seem to be peaking right about now. I'll take Dixie's 5 guard offense and aggressive play by 7 over NCC.
  8. Love his intensity, however, he needs to control his emotions a little more. Yes he has good size, but that is not carte blanc to feel that he can just bang and not be held accountable for losing control with his emotions(mouths a little too much to the officials when he gets caught).
  9. I'll take the Colonels by 12. Colonels a more talented and deeper team.
  10. Did not saying anything about team chemistry, that would infer problems. I never said that, I did say that I do feel that they have not grown together. Couple of players have taken 2 steps forward and 1 back. I think 2 in particular have stepped up big time(and no, I'll not name players that is not fair). As fans you have had high expectations and yes I as a fan of the 10th have had equally as high of expectations, I feel the 10th is one of the top regions in the state and I hope that the 10th succeeds to the fullest of capabilities possible. You talk about not being fair, I think that someone as close to the program as you are would not be so thin skinned and to think that my opinion is an uneducated guess. This is a public forum, therefore I believe the purpose is to bring up topics and to discuss them. Some discussions you may enjoy and others you may not, but this is freedom of speech and too judge ones qualifications based upon their observations, I would think might be a little prematurely judgmental.
  11. I stand by my comments, the AIT for example with the exception of Christian Co. I believe everyone else took care of the Bryan Stations and the Simon Kentons for you, BB had the easier bracket. As for the 37th, just because everyone had comparable records doesn't make for the best district in the region. And for the grand finale of beating Montgomery Co. in the 1st round, BB finally did what they were supposed to do. No big Surprise in that game. For those that expected it to be close I guess you could have called it wishful thinking on their part. Now for the serious thoughts, yes, BB does have alot of potential, I just do not think that this group of young men have grown together as a team. If you want to take offense to this then so be it. I made my comments and observations and I guess I struck a few nerves. Good Luck to the four finalists and let the best team at tourney time win!!
  12. Had the pleasure of being at BB camp with Mark in the mid to late 70's, he had already graduated from HS and was playing at Maryland. He was at the Transy Camp as a guest instructor. He is a really class guy.
  13. I guess were all experts or we would not be on here!!
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, all that I heard last year was that the BB JV won the region and they would the team to be reckoned with. I simply stated that based upon your previous "High Expectations" that this had not happened. Yes, I have seen BB a couple of times this year and have yet to be impressed!!. As you are so quick to point out(I'm simply stating the facts). As I previously stated, everything they have won has been weak. The AIT was weak this year, the ALL A region was very weak and yes the District was equally as weak. Show me your big Regional Wins other than the mid range teams and lower. So far "They have not produced". They may and I may have to eat crow, it won't be the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. This is what makes the forum so great. P.S. Finally got your attention, I've been waiting for nearly 2 weeks, your the first to take the bait.
  15. Justice has been served!! Congratulations to Pat Elliott and to Coach Buddy Biggs. With all the speculation that has been circling about this topic I am glad too see the Best recognized. What Big Pat and Coach Biggs have done has been nothing short of spectacular. They have truly exceeded the expectations of most people. Again, Congratulations and Good Luck in bringing home the hardware again. TWO PEAT!!!!
  16. Not being sarcastic, but really!! BB's game is to slow it down and try to mentally wear you down. I'll say it again "I just don't think that they have the guns this year." They have not performed to expectations. Mason's game will be to speed it up, except if they get to PC. If that should happen they'll do as before and play the slow methodical game. I'll go with Mason Co. 74 to 60.
  17. I don't feel the Ludlow boys were worn out, they just do not have a true point guard. Their mistakes were in handling the ball, HHS's press gave them fits, too many layups and breakouts. Some of HHS's problems were also due to the defense that Ludlow was playing, HHS did not seem to have the perimeter game going last night, they had problems with the zone. All in all Ludlow played a much better game than anyone expected, even some of my friends said to me before the game, why are you here? "It's going to be a blowout". Maybe a little too confident! If Highlands does not come with their game each night it will be a short regional with that attitude.
  18. I have said this all season, I wish that he could get a little more PT on the Varsity level. He has proven to be a very good and aggressive JV player. There is just something about him that catches my eye everytime that I see him play. He definitely feel that he is a diamond in the rough waiting to break out.
  19. If you were at the game and know that GRC should have won by more then why don't you give us a breakdown. People just did not give Scott the credit they were due for being able to play with GRC. I think the bigger point spread predictions were from people not familiar with Scott or the type of ball that Scott played.
  20. I guess I'm a little confused, but my wife says this happens quite often. What has any of the following done to this point that would warrant Coach of the Year in the 10th. Silver Grove coach did a decent job, but went nowhere other than winning some Class A games. Mike Code's team has been an underachiever, they won the 10th All A, but they really had no stiff competition. They won the AIT, but that was down this year as well. They won the 37th, but for the most part the district was down compared to what the expectations were for some of the teams. Coach Carr is my favorite coach of the group(Just My OP), but I think he would admit that the expectations were set high and they fell a little short except for making their 1st trip to the 10th Region Tourney. Others that really must stand head above shoulders over the coaches being discussed. The front runners should be O'Hearn, Biggs, Humphrey and some would say Kendall. To step outside of these 4 would be a travesty. Point being that there are several other coaches that are more deserving if we are being real about it.
  21. Was not able to make it to the game, it looks like it was a dandy. Someone told me that GRC was up 12 with about 5:30 to go and Scott really comeback. Scott evidently had their chances, but they had problems from the charity stripe. My source said that Scott really blew their chance to win it in the closing seconds. I predicted a good game with the score going either way by no more than 6. Did not miss it by far. Things are shaping up for some Friday night showdowns.
