  1. That Brad Cox is well dressed? Everyone agrees.... Have they had a lot of talent that didn't achieve the way it could have under better/different coaching? I'd (and you would) agree that they did.
  2. Did Joe leave or was he fired? If he left because of politics then personal attacks need to stop.
  3. I graduated from CCHS in 1997 and the field had no grass. I went to a game last year and it still had no grass. There is no way I would have let Brossart use that field (unless the way was funding a turf surface).
  4. Then send them to public school since you've already paid for it.
  5. About five years ago PC had an incredible amount of talent come through the school. In 96' and 97' they had a lot of talent come through the school. They had some players who weren't dedicated like the players of the past few years in the nineties, but recently they had Appleman as the coach and he was horrible. Lonnie Miller was 6'6", Danny Showberg (Sp) was 6'4" maybe, Andrew Gosney was 6'4" ish, Justin Feeback is 6'2" and Joey Allen was 6'2". Plus they had Brad Cox on the team and he was a very good shooter (and dresser). All of those kids came in a 2-4 year span and IMO were good enough to compete in the region if they had been well coached. Maybe someone can fill in some blanks for me, but they have had some very talented teams over the years that people outside of PC never realized. If Appleman hadn't coached that team and Biggs had they would have been top 2 or 3 in the region for sure.
  6. This is thread jumping and I don't click on Nomar threads for a reason. Please leave any Nomar info off of this thread for my sake. :D
  7. Castro is batting 251 this year and that's 20 points above his career average. However he's batting 343 since returning to the Reds. Maybe 34 is the year he learned to hit.
  8. You have to know that I'm not one to judge someone for alcohol (unless it's a taste test.) Maybe the comments weren't a joke, maybe he was hungover. I bought Dunn and Kearns a beer and they each got me back a few years ago. It was pretty cool.
  9. Umpires talk. Teams get reputations and they are typically earned and not good. I've had coaches come up to me and question some of the dumbest stuff ever and when you're out there you don't want to hear it. He absolutely has the right to say "you have a reputation, I don't want to talk to you." (I would never judge a coach by a word of mouth reputation just like I wouldn't use the "one more word" threat to warn a guy off the bat.)
  10. Honestly a lot of umpires get a power trip and bring it to the field. Telling someone you don't want trouble because they have a reputation is not uncalled for though. A lot of umpires tell a coach to be quiet and quickly say "one more word." That leads to a quick ejection in most cases. It's better to stearnly tell a coach/player "I've had enough this conversation is over." If they don't heed that warning then one more word is acceptable. The thing that gets me though is baseball is the one and only sport where complaining is not acceptable and I think that's great. If baseball umpires reffed in the NBA guys would get thrown out in the first quarter. After a few weeks the players would stop crying though. Also, it is not mandatory (or even necessary) for an umpire to attempt a handshake. If the coach wants to shake hands that's fine, but he should be the innitiator of the handshake not the umpire. However, if someone tries to shake your hand and you reject it because of a B2 baseball game your class meter just dropped IMO about 100 points. If his partner umpire really did apologize for his actions I'd never work with that guy again. You're out there as a team and you live and die as a team. The balk rule in B ball is stupid. The coaches tell the umps to call it and complain when they do call it (or don't whatever benefits there team). I've had more trouble explaining balks to coaches then they are worth. There are a lot of balks that are never called at this level (going to the mouth) because it's too much for most of these kids to remember. What was the "balk" on the mound anyway?
  11. I hear Bronson frequents Covington and Mt. Adams all the time.
  12. My comment to your OJ post was because you said he would never go to K State because he it was a small town. I'm not sure of the relevance because he could have gone there, and still could(which he isn't). I also never said Denorfia would hit 15-20 homeruns because he probably won't. I said the best case scenario for Denorfia could be 15-20 hrs. That isn't too many. A lot of major leaguers hit more homeruns in the big leagues then they ever do in the minors. Plus the ball goes farther the faster the pitch goes. Alex Rios never had 15 homers in the minors, yet he has 15 at the all-star break. He happens to be about the same age as Denorfia. I also never said OJ was going to Kansas State, yet I thought like the experts and experts thought he COULD go there and I agreed. I agreed that he COULD, not would, and it happened in March........
  13. The first post said "best case scenario." He hit 21 hrs last year and 17 the year before. I think 15 hrs over a season is way more rrealistic then him batting 260. He isn't a spring chicken though and I'm not really high on Denorfia, but I thought the "best case scenario" numbers were low to the point of absurdity.
  14. I'd bet the farm he'd hit over 260. There is nothing in his stats that should make you think he'll hit that low. I'd say at best he could be a 290 hitter with 15-20 HRs and 80 and 80. And he might steal you 15 bases. Saying that 260,10, 60, 60 is best case scenario when it supports your arguement, but realistically it isn't.
  15. I'm going out on a limb and say no OJ won't return to WVA anytime soon.
  16. That makes sense. Why are NFL players allowed to do it? You would think that would be a rule there too since it's medically driven.
  17. Why is this a rule? Who cares besides the KHSAA?
  18. Wireman and Gametime. Do you guys wear matching outfits too?
  19. Other than this year, Shaq hasn't been benched late in games. They just left him in in most games. You do make several good points and this is a well thought out post. I do understand your points too, but none of means that Shaq would have won another title.
