  1. A lot of college athletes are 18 or 19 and their families don't have a lot of money. Some take the easy way out, like Bush did, Some follow the rules.
  2. True, but maybe he has a good agent or publicist that said we can make you look real good if you do........
  3. Not to rain on the parade here, but is this the same guy who took over $100,000 in benefits while at USC? The one who might get his heisman trophy stripped and land a national power on probation.
  4. Eifert and Sullivan are a legit 6'5, maybe 6'6. Jontai Scruggs alway bangs down low. I'm looking forward to seeing Sullivan play, I really think playing football this year is going to help his aggressiveness down low. HC has some good guards with shooting ability and size with Sorrell and Ryan both taller than 6 ft. I think they make it out of the district with CCH.
  5. Pretty good article if you're a Nationals fan. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060921&content_id=1675136&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  6. Just b/c the move wasn't made for sports doesn't mean they might not want to play sports. They were only brought up b/c of them having a similair situation when it comes to moving and selling their house. They were ruled ineligible. I was wondering if Katie has been ruled eligible yet. Last I heard she hasn't. I'm not saying she was ruled ineligible either. Just don't know if she's eligible yet or not.
  7. Why would they have not been back next year? It's my understanding, and I could be wrong, that they are not unrestricted free agents after this year.
  8. Maybe they could have used their 2 and 6 hitter that got traded away for bullpen help that hasn't helped. Just a hunch though.
  9. Whoever gets to play them the night that 1 or 2 of their key players are suspended. JK. It's a long season and there are some good teams besides Holmes. Holmes should win every game they play against nky teams, but it wouldn't surprise me if for whatever reason they don't.
  10. And the defensive catcher makes a great defensive play.
  11. I did forget actually. I flew to Vegas during the break and I'm quite sure I was probably looking forward to that instead of hinging on every Reds game. They also lost 8 of 10 on the road trip so the trade must not have helped with that. The Reds had holes then, have more holes now, and will have more holes IMO next year and the few years after that at the minimum. Everyone presumeably wants the same thing..a winner...I just don't think they are as close as some people think. People are worried about 2008, to an extent I am too, but I also think this was their chance to compete for the playoffs this year. I think that chance went up in flames with Majewski's ERA.
  12. Harang has either 1 or 0 wins in his last 8 outings.
  13. So your saying the trade has helped the team this year?
  14. Not many teams in the history of baseball have blown a 5 game lead in the division once September has started. No one is saying they were run producing machines. But the club scored more runs while they were on the team. Friendly wager, the Reds will not lead or be tied for the division lead in the next 3 years in the month of September.
  15. I'm not sure on the ruling, but didn't the state of Ohio say his graduating class was last year? Meaning he could enter next years class no matter what he does this year. It was already stated but he has no worries at all about using years of eligibility.
  16. It doesn't matter what they've done this year while in Washington. The Reds scored more runs and had a higher winning percentage while they were on the team. The trade did nothing to help the pen b/c one of the pitchers never got anyone out once he put on a Reds uniform and the other one while he looks promising hasn't helped all that much either. Define "in it" and we'll see where they are in the next 3 years. They were tied for the division lead and had the wild card lead a couple of weeks ago. I say they are not in that position again in the next 3 years this late in the year. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm defending the Reds fans that might have the same opinion as I do.
  17. I as well as most fans understand that Krivsky gets paid to do his job. I also have faith that he knows what he's doing. I hope he builds something similar to what he was a part of in Minnesota. But I am a realist. He will never have the same payroll as 3 teams in his division. The other two teams in the division will have a payroll pretty close to the Reds. I know payroll doesn't mean everything, but it can't hurt to have more resources. If you look at the bst pitcher on every team in the division when would you take Harang? I would take mim 5th. The Brewers with Sheets healthy all year would have had a better record than the Reds. I'm going to go on a limb and say that in the next 4 years the Reds aren't tied for the division lead as late as they were 3 weeks ago. I hope Bray and Majewski help next year and in the future, but I think it's just as likely that they aren't studs. By the way when the trade was done the supporters said it was going to help their chances now as well as in the future. It not only didn't help this year, but it hurt. Now it has to help in the future or it look like one of the worst trades in Reds history.
  18. Or they realize that they had a chance to compete for the playoffs, but traded two 26 year old position players for two middle relief bullpen guys who haven't helped do anything this year except lose games. And now they can't score runs like they did earlier in the year, and they look like they need more pieces this offseason than they did at the all star break. Maybe they think they won't get the same production out of Ross, Aurilia, Hatteberg, and even though it's less likely Phillips next year as they did this year. Maybe these same fans think the NL has to improve next year, and that the Reds were pretty fortunate that none of their starting pitchers got injured until this week. Basically maybe they're tired of competing for a playoff spot once every 6-8 years and they saw a chance to compete this year, but their club decided to trade for guys that may or may not help next year. It's just a possibility though.
  19. And the pitching wasn't horrible during that stretch.
  20. .204 is higher than .184. People are well aware you thought Ross would cool off. His biggest slump is still better than what Larue gave the team. Remeber August wasn't that great of a month for Larue either. I think most of us agree we don't care who catches if it helps the team win.
  21. Liriano looked good but left the Minnesota game today with elbow pain. They still may win the division, but I'm guessing he doesn't pitch in the playoffs.
  22. Phillips had at least a little to do with it. If it was a called steal from Edwin then Dunn should have gone also.
  23. I believe you're right, but if Milton can't go you can't convince me that Homer shouldn't be up here and given a chance. What I'm asking is could they even bring him up for a spot start now? If he pitches very well they look like they had the answer and were afraid to use it.
  24. If he didn't do it on his own then Dunn shouldn't play.
