  2. it is amazing that everyone wants to talk about subbing and that if Elliott doesn't start doing this it they won't be able to win. These kids are better conditioned than any group in the state period! They played 3 games this week and showed that conditioning by playing a very good Christian Co. team and BEATING them. When they LOSE playing their way, then all of the posters on here can talk about Coach Mays and his staff not subbing enough, until then, let it go...they are winning this way.:ylsuper:

  8. Now that summer basketball is pretty much over, who has looked good this summer and who should we all be watching for?
  9. If any of you have read Pat Summitt's book, you will find that Coach Demoss is an excellent recruiter and was Pat's "YANG". She enjoys recruiting and focusing on that aspect of the game. After leaving UF as the head coach, Coach Demoss was Pat's top priority to come to UT. Now it seems the new Coach at Texas felt the same way. Mickie Demoss has shown the ability to being a GREAT Head Coach, I think that she would rather spend the time doing what she does best, recruiting and not worrying about what people think about her in the media. She is top shelf for sure and Texas will be a better program with her as a part of it. I don't believe she will go back to being a head coach again, she proved her worth as a top notched recruiter even at a program like UK. She now will enjoy recruiting for another storied program like Texas and will continue doing what she loves best. BEST OF LUCK COACH AND THANKS FOR THE SUCCESS YOU BROUGHT TO OUR STATE!
  10. Saw Boyd at Shawnee State's Camp. Young but always hungry....Pete will have them playing hard, Boyd Co. style Basketball by the time the season rolls around.
  11. Dunbar takes home the crown....follow link for the whole tourney results. http://www.scoresandschedules.com/KBALive/EditAutoLeague.aspx?ALID=249&SID=1811&StTournID=0&SYID=2&StateID=300 click on schedule to follow the entire bracket.
  12. Elliott also beat Georgetown, OH and Lewis Co. to go 6-1 with the only loss being to Mason Co. by 2....
  13. I find it AMAZING that a coach who develops his talent from the ranks of his elementary programs all the way to the high school level is not given credit by you as a quality coach. I guess if he were more like other area schools who continously have "transfers" to be able to compete he then would be consider a great coach. A true coach takes the hand that he is dealt and dares you to call! As far as the weak district, and teenager comment...can you tell me how many region championships the 63rd has won in the last 20years? How about the last 30 years? I would venture to say that in the last 10 years you will find that the above mentioned districts that you consider weak have more region champs than the 63rd.:fight:
  14. She definately ranks up there, but I think you also have to list Seargent at East and Griffith and Ferguson at Elliott. Strait at Ashland will be tough as well. Spurlock is back I believe at Rowan. Eagle at Morgan. This is a very balanced year for the 16th Region.
  15. Duck 1220, I guess that Blair and Robinson, as well as Gill were not high caliber enough for Russell to win with. I guess Vanhoose "carried" that team to all of the victories they had. Vanhoose is a great player, but I'm here to tell you that without Robinson coming to Russell last season, Russell does not beat Elliott in the EKC or regular season game. Check the box scores and you will see....And by the way, You stated that this is the first group of kids that he has coached for 4 years as seniors, strange how Elliott made it to the Elite "8" as sophmores in their first trip to Rupp. Last year I believe that the group that Dodd had coached for "3 years" barely escaped Elliott in the Championship who, by the way was playing with freshman at the time, and then got spanked in the first round at Rupp.---Again, not taking anything away from Coach Dodd, I just feel like there probably should have been more with what he had.
  16. Madduxace, nothing against Coach Dodd but, Let's face it, with the talent he received courtsey of the Rose Hill break up, and what he actually did with that talent, I can't quite agree with you that he is better than a couple of the above mentioned coaches. One in particular who beat him this year to go on and win the 16th Region with a group of SOPHMORES. Russell plays in a weak district and quite frankly did the 16th Region more harm by going to the state tourney last year with their absolutely lack luster performance against Grant Co. Coach Dodd knows the game and has endured quite a bit while at Russell, but with the talent and support that program has had over the last 2 or 3 years I would expect more.
  17. 16th Region Rick Mays- Gets the most out of the Kids he has and that have grown up right there in Sandy Hook! No Black Marks or "Rumors" for this coach. Roger Zornes-Now that he has returned from the Buckeye Land, Zornes should have and immediate impact on the 16th Region. He has a reputation for "Runnin' and Gunnin" with full court pressure a constant. Rex Cooksey- Time proven "General" who has made class"A" Fairview a contender every time they step on the floor. Buddy Biggs-New to the region, but showed great improvement with the Tomcats. Class Act guy who will be fun to watch against Zornes.
  18. Rick Mays from Elliott Co. is considered the "Dean" of the 16th Region
  19. The only real problem I have with this whole discussion is that does any of it really matter? I mean as stated in a previous thread, Emily has secured her future at MTS and should have a great career there as well as receive a great education. Being selected to the All-star game or being named Miss Basketball albeit would be nice, but it won't change her situation for her future. Why must we get so caught up in the individual comparisons of teenage kids that we miss what really took place this year in our region. We had FIVE division one signees to play basketball! That to me is better than any all-star team. Emily and her supporters are only human in feeling like she is being slighted, but when the day is done my girl, you know what you are worth, and nobody can change that.
  20. Pike Central is very physical and likes to get up and down the floor. Lowe is a force in the paint. Ratliff can light you up from anywhere. This will be a real test for the Royals. The match up inside should be the difference. If Rose Hill can control Lowe, I believe they can win.
  21. Okay, let the fun begin. Elliott goes into this game down 0-3 over the last 3 meetings. Can the Elliott Erupters pull out the big one when it counts? My prediction::fight: Elliott Co. 78 Russell 70
  22. Way to go ELLIOTT... Bigger floor proved to much for Boyd. Elliott has a lot of depth and get up and down the floor for 32 minutes every game. Heart breaking for Boyd being up at the half but I'm sure coach Pratt told his kids it isn't over yet in the locker room. Great game for both teams. Good Luck and see everyone in Morehead on Saturday.
  23. I believe this is Tubby's final year with the CATS. MY choice of replacement(not that my opinion matters) would be Mark Few from Gonzaga. This guy has shown he can bring a Mid Major to national prominence and just imagine what he could do for a program like UK. As far as Billy D. is concerned, I can't imagine why he would leave a program where he is a GOD to take the kind of scrutiny he would have to endure at UK. Either way, hopefully we can get back out on the recruiting trail and get back to winning in at least our own CONFERENCE...
