.. I must disagree with you there. My son played each of the years that you are talking about. I was there too. I can not say with accoracy that PC and Somerser had big turnouts compared to SWHS but will say that over those years I saw Cole Draughn Tyler Sexton, Johnny Denham and many others from PC there for years. Also during those years I remember seeing ths Barber Bros. and the Newells there repeatedly from Somerset along with many others I know. I know those Kids and many others that attended those years from SHS. I am telling you that tonight I know only one from Somerset and I was told 3 from PC tonight. You can argue the point til you are blue in the face about those past years and tonights poor showing and cannot change my mind about what or how many I saw. Anyway you were with your girl friend and probably had other things on your mind. The onle thing I was thinking about was Football and the Kids...

... Why does 102.3 have the interview at a Dairy Queen? Cause the Coaches like ice cream? Heck no... It is an event sponsered for the Kids. The interview could be conducted anywhere if that was the sole purpose. I have been to many interviews over the years and have always seen such interviews over flowing with players. Your argument has NO merit and to try to defend a defenseless issue is par for your course...

... Jumper_Dad, I have been to all the Dairy Queen interviews for 9-10 years. It is always a gala event with bunches of players from all 3 schools, not just SWHS. Just curious, I know our Kids had a good time...

Did anyone listen to the area coaches chat on 102.3 at the Dairy Queen tonight. When I arrived Coach Cobb was discussing alot of freshmen getting varsity time. Is this true or just hype. I noticed the only Jumper there with Coach was I believe his son Tyler. No players what-so-ever...What is up with that? Also PC was not represented (3) very well either. The Dairy Queen location has historically been flocked with Kids from all three schools. SWHS had approximatey 40 players and many fans and parents... What gives? Is it something between PC and SHS or merely lack of support?...

.. So if the game is at PC but closed to the public, I have no other choice in believing that sly Coach Johnny Hines is playing the ole possum. If I were Somerset I would not think they are going to beat the Maroons by 20-30 points. I expect a far closer game. Just my humble opinion...

... After scrimmaging SWHS Friday night and then a week off of the 24th. If I were Wayne County I would be on a scouting mission at the Ray Correll Bowl. Doesn't Wayne also have PC and Somerset on schedule?...:sssh:

... Yes Adam White is expected to play this scrimmage. He is very talented athlete. He can play any position well. Expect to see him take a few snaps also. As a soph last year Adam did play alot on a senior laden team. He touched the ball and did score touchdowns. We at SWHS are excited about this young man (jr.) and know he will receive a lot of looks from D-1 schools at the end of THIS year...

... The scrimmage is at Wayne County and starting time is 7:00pm. The starting time is expected to stay except if the heat index is up,then it could possibly be delayed, which as it stands now is not expected...

I look at all the secrecy as lost opportunity. To hold back because you fear that someone is going to see your team is fear. All high school teams I know of exchange game film after each game. It is pretty hard to conceal you teams abilitys after game 1. So why not go all out at the scrimmages? Especially since it is the last scrimmage before regular seaon play starts...

Thought I would start this thread to create a little interest. I know little about Wayne County. Hopefully it will be a good scrimmage for both teams...

... Also, I take exception to the way you beleaguer my position because you are in favor of charging for scrimmages. Charge on, but please do not expect or demand I buy into it. I see it work rather well without charging an arm and leg at regular games and anything at all for scrimmages...

... That is my whole point. If parents attend each game, and most do, and have a couple more younger Kids then you are talking approx. $35 on a Friday night just for admission at the 7-10 price range. The boils down to quite a bit of money to us country folk that do not have the higher paying job opportunity that some have. A young family has financial struggles with gas, food, housing, ins., ect. Then to add unecessary costs upon that is the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. It then discourages parcipation and therefore deminishes the support...

... Rockmom: I am in no way outraged or angry. I do think the act is unethical an/or greedy. In fact I am extremely HAPPY that the program I am affiliated with is one of the many that do not charge for every little function. To me, it incites fans and family to involve themselves more deeply...:thumb:

To define gouging, according to my Websters" is to extort or swindle; to cheat out of money, ect.; also, to overcharge"... Lord knows that some cannot afford to pay when it is not necessary... Those are the ones I am taking a position for. If one can afford to, and I am one of them, donations to the cause is applicable...

...Personally, I just think it is just not right. IMO. Secondly, I am merely making statements opposing the issue. I am allowed to do so, aren't I? If SWHS charged for Scrimmages I not doubt would be like you and pay. But since we do not I am greatful for the parents and fans. Many have large families and to charge them for practice games is over-milking the cow...
