If I read the policy correctly. Test positive once have to get counseling. If you test positive for the same substance again it "may" be considered a second violation. Outside of testing, what is different about their policy compared to other schools? Do schools really have a "pro" drug policy? One thing that is nice for CCH is the ability to expel a student and deny them an education.

Overall test scores are a poor judge, IMO. Look at the socio-economic breakdown of the schools when looking at test scores. Like I said tell me something being taught at Beechwood/CCH (not religion) that is not offered at Boone area schools. And for some Beechwood/CCH is a shorter drive time wise from their house and more convenient.

I think your post is exactly what I am saying. Ryle football the last couple of years had an out of this world high school QB. Who is now at a Big 10 School. Cooper had 3 maybe it was 4, D1 signed basketball/athletes on their roster. Probably less than a hand full over the last 20 years that have left CCH to go to a Boone County school.

Exactly my point! You do not need to go the Beechwood/CCH to achieve academically. Wonder which schools offer, for in-class credit, classes on test preparation? And like you posted in your thread, congratulations to all mentioned!!

Correct, but like I said the coaches are not going to change policy they deal with the hand they are dealt. I do not see how Boone County Schools can have open enrollment when each school is already at maximum capacity.

I mentioned the 2 schools that benefit the most from kids in Boone County. It is not really that hard to understand.

I do not understand why anyone would schedule them in the first place. All you are doing is giving them access to everyone in your community to "entice" future student athletes to attend their school. Especially Boone County School systems teams that have closed enrollment. Do not give me the, only restricting yourself or just limiting yourself because of your own policy line either. The football coaches have to deal with the hand they are dealt and they are not going to be able to change school board policy. So, why go to CCH what is the benefit for NKY teams? Same thing goes for scheduling Beechwood.

Scott went for it on 4th and less than a yard three times and got stopped every time in the first half. Scott faster speed should have helped on the 3 sweeps for TD Conner had with the shortest one going for 30 yards.

Because Lickert went crying and complaining to the NKCA that it was lopsided. He wasnt complaining when Highlands/CCH were sending a lot of talent and that side won a few in a row. He also wanted to have a draft for qbs.

What ever tax they raise would be paid for by the residents of Boone County? Let it be a true county tax to get a better return on those tax dollars. Instead of raising local taxes for the schools and consequently getting less money from the state. To help the school system out, thus helping the community. I am just spit balling an idea.

Why not "lease" the athletic fields to the county and then let a county tax pay for them? I think this might solve how if taxes are raised by a school district the state sends less money, by the same amount. Is this even possible, legally?

The ballots I made up could be legitamate ones and each be a legitamate opinion of a head coach. None of the ones I listed are crazy or garbage. Based on the hypothetical ballots I submitted, the order looks like this 1) CVH 2) Mcneil 3) Ohmer 4) Kunkel 5) Fredrick 6) Hendrix 7) Meyer 8) Heygi 9) Bertsch Who says that CCH even voted for Fredrick at all? Maybe coach felt like he missed to many games and omitted him from his ballot all together.

How is the voting done? Is it a coach votes for 1, 2, 3 , 4, or 5 players? I could see it mathematically working out, if you only could vote for a couple players. Cooper and CCH are the only two schools to have three players listed.

Considering that you are not allowed to compensate coaches outside of the school board, according to KHSAA, that would not be smart.

1. Which is better in the building or not? All of the things you mention do make a difference. However, the things you mentioned can't be promised to a perspective coach to entice them to come to their school. Or, I should say that if they are promised anyone in education long enough should know they would have to see it to believe it. Just saying you are going to spend more money on facilities, prioritize football, or have a curriculum change to offer a weightlifting class are not things that just get done because one person says so or promises it. Hilton already knows what is in place at Bell County. What can they do to "lure" him back? Meaning what can they "offer" Mr. Hilton that is not already known or available to any other coach that coaches there.

The state did not require Scott County to build a new high school. In fact, they are still trying to decide if one will be built or not. It keeps getting delayed and pushed back from what I keep reading online(so it must be true:)) They do not have to send equal money to Ryle. Did they send money for field houses to Boone and Conner after Ryle and Cooper were built with field houses? Or did they build a softball stadium for Conner complete with bathrooms after building one at Boone? The BOE already has land available(donated) on RT 18 in Burlington for a new elementary school. It will be called Hogan Elementary school. Now the Toyota thing is interesting since not all the property is in one county. I am hoping Conner gets it done.

I am trying to figure your posts out. Where did I say or suggest that only one school would benefit from increased taxes to pay for turf? First, you think that if he BOE asked to raise taxes and set money aside for turf people would listen. Meaning they would be receptive to the idea. Then you said if the BOE spent money on the fields people would go crazy. No, the district does not have to build new schools, they can expand. Doesn't having more schools just increase overhead as opposed to expanding schools? Number of schools is not a conversation for another day because if they managed the existing funds and did not race to build schools then there might be money to have modern facilities at the current schools. If the BOE would have elected to install turf at Cooper when it was built, then yes state money could have gone towards it, because it would have been part of the overall construction of the school and related facilities. In KY, the school districts pay about 67% of the costs of new capital construction and the state pays the remaining 33%. With it being a new school it would have been cheaper to install turf from the beginning rather than going back years later and doing the install. Based on the local school district having to pay about 67% it would have cost the BOE about 500k for turf, using the 750K amount it cost Ryle to install turf. Actual cost would be less because work was going to be done on the field regardless of what type of turf was going to be used. Then they could have allocated funds to to the other schools, when they do capital projects for the other two schools that need work on their old and outdated athletic facilities. Or just spend the money on them like other districts do. Maybe do a match of any fundraising that is done by the schools? Secondly, what do you mean the state will only let you get so big? This is news to me, I have never heard of that before.
