  1. In less than two months since my last post, a field is actually taking shape!!! As long as the weather holds out, I hope they continue progress!
  2. Did anyone else notice that Paintsville kicker, and Aussie transfer student Stuart Lips, who is a southpaw, kicked off once last night in the fourth period with his right foot???? I about freaked when it siled all the way to the 10 yard line!!!
  3. I agree that the last score was uncalled for. For what it is worth, you have my appology! Mefford played more than 3 plays in the second half, and took some shots that hut him...He is a great player though. The same thing didn't happen against Hazard.
  4. Home field advantage will put Somerset over the top IMO. Somerset 21 Pikeville 14
  5. This game could be grat....or could be very ugly!!! Paintsville will have some of their players back for this game, but will still be very banged up. Paintsville was at 75-80% at best against Evarts. And Evarts played their hearts out. This week Paintsville will be at around 80-85%. Can't give a prediction, just hope the Tigers are up for another huge game!
  6. Sure they lost to Somerset....they just didn't look back!!!
  7. Mojo, Who scored the other TD for the Tigers??? I thought Pugh accounted for all 10?
  8. Pugh also made several tackles on defense.......well......maybe a few tackles as I am not sure that either team made several tackles... :sssh:
  9. These teams traded scores for most of the game, Paintsville led 35-26 at halftime. Evarts just ran out of gas in the fourth. Hats off to the Wildcats and a big HECK YEAH for the Tigers!!!
  10. This is the correct final score. Daniel Pugh went off the charts!!! Don't know his stats, but he threw 4 TDs, ran for 5 TDs and returned a punt for another score!!! It was without a doubt the best indivual prformance I have ever seen, And I have seen a lot!!!
  11. Must not have seen many Little League and Sr. League programs! Belfry has the market cornered in Pike County!!!
  12. Give me a league that doesn't have Al-Stars and I'll give you a league that would flourish!!! You wouldn't have to get started til May, and could play til Labor Day and have a great Tourney!!!
  13. For the last 2 years my son played Jr. League. He has played approx. 25 regular season games along with around 22 games in All-Star action in those 2 years. I think the Sr. League in the past 2 years have played 4 regular season games and around 16 All-Star games. Why doesn't the County start a league that begins in June and runs through Sept.??? Cal Ripken will have their All-Stars starting in June and all those kids that don't make it will be done for the year. This way around 400-500 kids could play all summer!!! That is why they want a new league right??? To get kids involved for a longer period of time. Just a thought.
  14. Tony Mayes of Paintsville took the hardest hit, 1980 against Richmond Madison. Mayes trying to get to the corner leaps a defender that was on the ground, and as he was coming down a LB(don't remember name) caught him just under the chin!!! :scared: Mayes did get immediately up though......he took 2 steps before he collapsed! We thought he might die right there on the field!!! It was viscious!
  15. How about the fist for the "take"!!! those signs never changed!!! and for me that was almost 30 years ago!!
  16. Absolutely!!! The man got everything out of his players!!! I never new of any player that didn't love him!! I still miss being at bat and looking down at 3rd for a sign and see him there holding that scorebook and a cig. hanging off his lip!!! :thumb:
  17. Yes we did, and to tell the truth, it was probably some of the best times I had in baseball!!! Lemon Lemaster was da bomb as a coach!!!
  18. I have stayed out of this discussion for a while and have given it a lot of thought! At first, to be perfectly honest, I was upset at the thoughts of PLL taking a major hit from this. I probably offended some with comments as well, and am truly sorry if I did. I guess I was just venting! I have talked with several from both sides of this issue since then and have come to terms with this. I have now decided that, yes, my son is definately going to be affected as he moves up this year in LL and will be eligible for Sr. League. Here is where he will be affected!!! I can't remember who played on the last PLL sr. L team!!! I mean, a regular season team!! PLL can only, and I mean barely come up with a Sr. L. team for All-Stars and they play 2 regular season games to make them eligible for AllStar Tourny play! That is a minimum of three games and a max of about 18 games if they were to win the Word Series!!! That isn't a whole lot of extra baseball to me. If the Babe Ruth L. is able to field 3 or 4 teams for regular season, what are we to do??? I would love to stay faithful to PLL, but I do want what is best for my son, and that would be for him to play as many games of the sport he loves most, as he can! Anyone have any suggestions?
  19. Could you please enlighten us as to which kids you know of that went from Johnson Central to Paintsville because of Little League?
  20. Anyone know who PLL voted in as new officers today?
  21. I would venture both corporate and private alike!
  22. Yes I was, as both Manager and Board member.
  23. Did I say it wasn't??? I believe I had posted earlier that PLL was one of the most respected leagues in the state. But if Johnson Co. ends up with 2 leagues vying for the same kids, a split will be made and the leagues will suffer.
