Looks like Russell has less of a chance than Ryle does. I have no faith in the computer ratings at all. They cannot take into account injuries and other intangibles that could come into play during any given game.

They were 3A by enrollment. If I recall correctly.

But honestly. The only stat that matters at the end of that game was the scoreboard. One went on and one went home. Luckily for us it was Russell that went on. From Russell's wesite Mercer had 306 yards total offense and Russell had 436.

I couldn't remember either. Luckily I could pull up Russell's website and get those stats.

I think that was a fact he was proud of. Many teams in the state never get the opportunity to ever go to the championship game. So If they win a 1 out of 4 tries is a pretty good average.

I agree with that statement. But there are also some 2 td games that are farther apart than the score shows. This one was about right. Mercer was handled fairly well but Russell did not dominate just to let Mercer score several late in the game.

I believe that you were referring to me and not 38. I watch several games in college and pros as well. I am only basing my comments on Russell high school football.

You have to look at it this way. .250 is better than a whole lot of the other schools out there. That's why I'll be happy with our .666 in our appearances.:thumb:

I have watched every Russell game for the past 5 years. With the way Russell has played in those years I guess a 41-26 score would be considered close. Honestly sometimes Russell gets boring to watch when they end up 50-6 and scores like that. I guess I would consider scores like 10-7 and 7-0 close but not 41-26.

I don't see 41-26 being real competitive.

How many Championships were produced from those 3 appearances? This will be Russell's third trip to this game and as of right now they are batting 1000.

I can only help you on 2 more of those. In 02 they lost to Breathitt Co by 1 point in OT. Breathitt went on to dismantle Corbin that year 51-0. In 04 Belfry was just to much. 39-14 loss to the eventual state champ.

I believe that it was stated earlier that Mercer's male student enrollment was about 60% of the student body. They are listed in the 930s somewhere. Which would be a medium to medium large 3A school.

Well DUH!

It's my understanding that Mercer has just a few less enrolled than Ashland and Ashland is commonly considered one of the larger 3A schools out there.
